hello! Greetings from Spain! My name is Ruben. 2 months ago I bought a beautiful 1100 fj. change to buy more for my dh bike. The guy I shift fj told me that worked well. I believed him to be a person who knew and believed not capable of lying. what was my surprise when I touch the key to start the bike and did nothing or a response. is that he lacked the carburetors, battery, rear brake leg and cdi ignitor module. Worst of all, the son of a ...............!!!! had cut the wires from the CDI and the CDI had brought to sell their connectors and everything. I've got all the parts that I need. but I need your help to connect the cables according to their color and position. the cdi. I bought a cdi with connectors but without wires. then there will be in what position. I need help please not to go. and I'm starting to get depressed a little. if you what it's worth my cdi is the model (TID14-30) / 36Y-10. My fj 1100 is the year 85-86. the frame number is: 36Y012816. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ALL !!!!!

1st: Welcome here.  You are in the right place.  As for advice, I'll offer this, You may want to consider buying an entirely new wire-harness, and re-wiring the bike completely, this is a big job though.

As you look at your new CDI, do the wire colors not match up with the cut wires on the bike?  Someone here can point you to wiring diagrams, with which if you're handy with wiring, it may not be too bad simply reconnecting the CDI wire by wire.

The other thing to watch for, is that the transmission on the early FJ's were not as bullet-prof as the motor.  If it's been abused, second gear can pop-out, due mostly to bent shift-forks.  This too is fixable, but it's not a small job -engine out, split the cases...  Perhaps it's pessimistic of me, but I wonder whether a problem like this it was caused the idiot who sold it to you, or someone, else to ravage the bike.  Hopefully not.

If you are patient, you can bring her back to life, and make it better than it's ever been, just take your time, and ask questions here, folks are almost always willing to help.  There are collectively, hundreds of years detailed FJ experience amassed on this list, as I said, you've found the right place.

Anyway, rest assured there is a special place in hell for that idiot that cut the wires...

Welcome here.

While i can sympathise do a certain degree, WTF were you doing buying a bike that you'd not heard running or even checked over properly?
2 months lapsed so i suppose you can't get a refund.
But like Dan says a wiring loom is probably the easiest course of action.

thx guys!!! but i only need a pic of your  cdi connectors with the wires  o de position of the wires and de color.  ( i'm sorry by my english!, i can't explain better).  but thx a lot to everyone.

The things i do to help people with FJ/XJR's  :unknown:

Anyway, this is from my FJ12 based XJR which is running with an FJ1100 electrical system.  European or UK spec for you fukalepikoko.
Hope you can see it well enough.

thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dude you're amazing, I have come to see the tears that photo, believed that he would not ever be able to splice those wires!! FJ111200 I have another question for you about your FJ 1200-XJR 1200 set up. I have a 1998  XJR 12 and i dont have Throttle Position Sensoir for my Carbs as they are from a 3CV the loom on my XJR has the sensor. The XJR has complete loom and CDI but i gather without the TPSensor this will not work? What would you suggest i do, I have complete Loom for a 3CV and CDI unit to suit would i best off rewiring the XJR for this or could i simply rewire the CDI plugs to suit the 3CV unit or will i have to use the whole 3CV loom ??? :scratch_one-s_head:

FJ111200

Well now, i'm not really the person to ask, if you let me explain.
I built my XJR from bits that had lying around in my workshop and bits from ebay and the like. Even though i've got an XJR loom, i used the FJ1100 loom and pick-ups as i thought that in the event of any sort of electrical failure while on the road, two pick ups might be better than one, just in case if you get my drift. You do know that the FJ11 has twin pick-ups and the 3CV has a single one?
It's trial and error for you i reckon. See if you can get the XJR TCI wired in, if not it's the 3CV. The 3CV loom is a different shape/length than the XJR so you'll end up splicing wires if you use it.
What does this TPS do anyway?  Ain't it just summat else to go wrong? Can't it just be disconnected?
Sorry if i can't be more helpful.

Thanks FJ111200 Ill have to go digging around on the XJR forums and see whats around i have no idea what the TPS does maybe its some sort of advance retard im just worried it might be required for the CDI to perform correctly thats the reason i was thinking of running a 3CV CDI and just disconecting the TPS? I realise the FJ 1100 has dual pickups was just trying to really find out if the TPS is vital and if i could bypass it.

Cheers

If you are talking about the Throttle Position Sensor, it is part of the FI bikes' fly-by-wire setup... they have no actual throttle cable.

On some bikes it is used to advance or retard the ignition. My '03WR has one with carb and throttle cable.

First gen FZ1 uses TPS with carbs and throttle cable.  It is an input to the ignition advance curve.
