Renntec engine bars

Can anyone tell me conclusively if the Renntec REN 100119B engine bars for 86-90 FJ1200 will also fit a 84 FJ1100? The guy at Revsperformance didn't know.
I remember reading something here about them fitting the earlier bikes but can't find it .

I wrote a post not too long ago asking the same question, except that in my case I need it to fit an '85.
Luckily, there's a lot of helpful people around here.

Just got my Renntec engine bars, they are very well built and finished but they do not fit, not with out some
modification. ( which I don't mind) but the FJ1200 bars are not a bolt on item for a /84 FJ1100.
Hard to describe what the mod is but the Renntec bars have a welded on pipe/plug, 22.5mm OD by 14mm long that is suppose to fit into the engine mounting hole 17.5mm ID just below the carb/airbox.
I'll have to cut off the pipe/plug and weld on a smaller plug to make it work.

I just got mine yesterday and it looks the same on my 1200. I have an 1100 as well and will be trial fitting on both this weekend. I did see the size of the dowel is the same size as the frame today and was puzzled by this.

That does NOT fit into the hole, it just covers it, as in, butts up against it......

If you're lucky it does... mine are in the vicinity, but don't exactly match up.

Kinda disappointing, considering the way the rest of the things fit up.

That does NOT fit into the hole, it just covers it, as in, butts up against it......
But if I leave that pipe to butt up against the engine mounting hole then the end peice of the Renntec bar
will be sitting more than 1/2" away from the frame, hanging out in the air.

I agree on the crappy fit. They look good when you stop looking at the alignment at that one point. They seem quite strong

Regarding the 1200 bars mounting on the 1984 1100. Mounting point on the left rear of the 1100 does not have the anti vibration insert for the bolt that the 1200 does. That said I tried several spacer dowels to get the correct fit. I did not have the items I needed on hand. I believe 1980 era Chevy Malibu Caliper sleeve kit will give the spacing required for the bar to mount to the 1100's left side. I will see if the local auto parts store has the items in question this week and see if I can come up with a satisfactory connection on both sides.

Yes, I have the same situation over here with my new Renntecs, everything fits nicely except for the top front footrest plate bolt on both sides, the angle of which doesn't let the bar sit flush against the frame.
I found that the bolt could be tightened, thus forcing the bar to bend and actually come quite close to were it seems it should be in the first place (the bolt head is, however, at an angle and not flush against the surface).

Not sure of this solution, and in humble ignorance I once again project my cries of woe over the solemn gathering at the FJ forum.

What solutions have you guys been using? Are rubber bushings the simple but evasive solution to this problem?

I believe there should be a spacer in the location you're referring to.  My bars (sourced from Marc Rittner, so maybe he made the spacer?) have a ~1" aluminum spacer that stands off the bars at that location and doesn't allow it to contact (and eventually wear away) the Al "footrest plate".  THis looks like part of the design, so maybe you're just missing those parts?

In route home from Singapore now, but I can send you a pic and detailed measurements tomorrow if you need to replicate the spacers...  PM if you want me to do that.

I made the spacer out of 6-8 SS washers on either side, it works well enough.

Anybody recall the torque spec for the attaching points on these bars?  I cannot locate the install guide, so I tried the GYSM.  As close as I can tell, the spec is 20 ft/lbs for both front attachment (lower frame rail bolts) points and the rear (footpeg plate) bolt as well.
Anybody got anything different?
