Thanks Bill and Buddy for the extra pictures and stuff. This looks like it will be a painless swap.
I got a call back from the salvage guy, and he has all the parts I need except the sprocket carrier and cush rubbers, which I can source from ebay. The parts are from a 92, so the wheel will match the FJ's front wheel, I just have to paint it. The caliper he has is from a GSXR, so I will have to go with it mounted on the bottom of the swing arm, which means a longer brake line, but I wanted a braided line on the back anyways.
The fun begins. I'm really looking forward to a bigger choice in tires now.

Kevin,

This swap is really not that difficult.  The hardest part for me was holding the caliper holder, the spacer and the washer I used as a spacer while putting the FJ axel on the right side of the bike.  Other than that, not much different than removing your wheel to have the tire replaced.

Just watch out that you get the spacer that fits behind the sprocket carrier and the wheel.  That's real important to the strength and integrity of the wheel pack.

Sorry that I can not find any more pics of my wheel swap.

If any questions arise, just post, you are not alone,

Thanks CraigO. Yes, this looks pretty easy.  I was looking at the Parts diagram for the gsxr, and I know which spacer you mean. The salvage dude has the whole axle and spacer, I'm hoping it's the right one. I'll know tomorrow when I go to inspect the parts.
Thanks Kevin

I received most of the parts I needed for the conversion today, but I still need the sprocket carrier and cush drive rubbers, but hopefully I should get those this week coming. The wheel is finished in BRIGHT red, and I'd like to match it to the front wheel FJ grey color, or maybe go to a satin black. Does anyone know if the factory color is painted or powder coated? It is possible to just, sand, prime and paint?
Thanks
Kevin

I'd guess that the factory powder coats the wheels.  However, that doesn't mean you can't just paint them.
I'd choose one of the "epoxy" paints to get a harder finish.

Thanks Arnie.
Thats kinda what I thought, but I wasn't sure. Now just to find the factory grey color on the wheels. Possibly looking at changing the wheel colors too. My FJ is an 88 with the white, red and grey, so I'm wondering what colors might look good.

Thanks
Kevin

Kevin,

Either grey, red, or black.
White will only look good while its clean - 10 min later you'll have to clean them again.
My GSXR wheel was white when I installed in on my bike.  Looks much better now that its grey.
