I know a thread must exist with the answers I need but I couldn't find it. I have an  89 FJ1200 and am wondering if   blue spots bolt right on. I bought the bike last month and it already has braided brake lines. So my questions are do the calipers bolt right on the forks and will my lines bolt on. Also any pad recommendations and should these eBay calipers be gone through before installation?

Thanks for any help or threads with these answers.

Yes, the blue spots bolt right on the 3CV forks.  A perfect match.  Don't forget to buy new crush washers when attaching the brake lines.  BTW, do you have 2 lines going to each caliper from the master, or the OEM style?
Some say that you have to swap the lower lines from the splitter under the triple clamp to make them fit.  I did not have to and they work fine.

Don't forget to upgrade your master cylinder to a 14mm.  If you need a list of bikes that have the 14mm, let us know.

I use the HH rated sintered pads.  Works great.

Without pulling the blue dots apart, if the pistons slide easily and there are no leaks should be ok , , depending how long they have been off the bike and how they were stored , , be prepared to clean your visor after trying the new brakes, these things Stop really well with new callipers brake lines and 14mm mastercylinder
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

When I put these calipers on my '85, I already had Russell SS lines.  In order to ge the fittings to mate correctly, I had to flip the lines from the splitter to the calipers over (I might have even swapped sides, don't remember exactly).  Bottomline is the existing lines will work.  If something looks wrong, try swapping the lines or the orientation of the banjo fitting.

I would always inspect, clean and grease the callipers. They stop you from getting seriously hurt.
They're off the bike so it's a simple  job.
There is probably a good how-to on the forum.
Don't use pliers. Use purpose grease

What part of a blue spot brake caliper would you grease?

The pistons.
ATE (Who make calipers) Have a grease for the purpose.
I've heard people using brakefluid ,but I've found that the pistons, in time, start sticking to the O-ring with this method.

I always take out the pistons, and clean them whenever I install new brakepads.
Not to difficult job that requires little tools.

Okay my calipers and master cylinder have arrived. Hopefully I can get these on before winter. What is everyone using for brake fluid? Does anyone have a part number or link for the crush washers for the lines? Anything else I've forgotten?

Sorry, I don't have them; I get them from my local NAPA store. They are 10mm I.D. and the O.D. is different for different applications. And finally I have used both aluminum and copper and have never had an issue with either type.

I used DOT 4 brake fluid.  The crush washers are available at almost any auto parts store for cheap.  And yes, they are 10mm.  While there, do yourself a favor and get a single person speed bleeder kit.

Makes it a lot easier to bleed the brakes.  :nyam1:

Enjoy these, you will notice a HUGE difference in your stopping power.
