ordered grips from bikebandit.com, as i'd heard them mentioned a few times either here, or on the fjr forum.  i placed the order 9/2/11.  continued to check the status of my order, for 6 days it continued to say "order being processed" or something similar indicating _not shipped_.  attempted to get their customer service via telephone, i got their voice mail.  this continued for another hour, making sure to call during their business hours.  then tried live chat online, not available.  finally resorted to sending them an email, saying if the item hadn't been shipped by today (9/8), cancel order and issue refund.  instead, they sent it out 9/9/11 at 530p (their time, presumably, per usps tracking website).

that's just lame.  i've emailed them just now requesting an rma and that i'd be contacting my credit card company, considering i'd notified them on 9/8 if it hadn't shipped to cancel order and refund, and instead they ship it out 9/9 at 530p.

that's just lame.

Wow! Tough critic.

Is waiting 5 business days, or 1 week a true hardship for an order to be processed and shipped out?

Just sayin', the last couple items I have ordered through my local dealer I waited 3+ weeks before hearing the parts were in.

No, but being unresponsive, or ignoring a customer's specific request is not excusable.

in my experience?  yep.  they've have my money for 5 days before the item gets in the mail.  that's too slow in my online shopping experience.  then i attempt to contact them by phone, then by online live help, to no avail, and finally email them to tell them if it doesn't ship out by end of day today to cancel, and what do they do?  ship it out the next day.  why?  because they already have my money.

Very well, I did have a store phone number or a physical building I could drive 1/2 hour out of my way to ask about my order, only to hear.................."it's still on order" or "haven't heard anything yet" and the famous "It's probably not in stock in the warehouse"

That wasn't any more info than you had.

I did have to pay for my parts before they would order them.

So they had my money for 3+ weeks and then when the order finally arrived I was told one part is obsolete.

Just trying to say it's not any better at the dealership, and if it was you wouldn't be shopping bikebandit

Dean,
May I inquire about the grips? What brand/type? That way you won't have to buy from others.

Travis,
I take pride in getting orders shipped the same day or the next business day at the latest. Your order came in after 4:00pm, my time, so it shipped the next day, by looking at the tracking number you will have you order today.

If I'm ordering something like an OE part, I could certainly deal with 5 days.  Something generic like grips I expect to be on the shelf and shipped next day at least.

Never bought from Bikebandit.. always seem to find better prices elsewhere.

randy,

they were some bmw grips for the fjr.  i didn't want to deal with a dealership for obvious reasons, but i doubt i'll be going with bikebandit when i can't speak with customer service via their customer service number, and for 5 days the order is "processing".

In the states, as far as I know, having worked in the commercial credit industry, you cannot charge the credit card until the order ships out - this is to prevent CC merchants from having a fiscal advantage over cash (remember cash?) based merchants.  If finance charges were applied prior to the item being shipped I'd contact the state AG to see if that was legal.  If not, then I'd get over it.  Note that a "hold" is different than a "charge" - a hold diminishes your buying capability on the credit card but does not incur finance charges.  The "hold" is a way to ensure you do not exceed your credit card limit and incur additional charges.  Sometime understanding the painful details of financial transactions can make one happier about them.

Peace

Even if the seller double charges... justgastanks.com held about $400 of mine for about a week, blaming the bank, but refusing to release the funds.  I had to wait for the hold to expire, even after I cancelled the order.    :dash2:
