flasher relay might be bad?

So I got some new turn signals and got them wired up with a new handle bar switch(the left side one).I'm pretty sure I wired it right cause I even went back and put the old handlebar switch back on but for some reason my blinkers will not flash, they come on (double filament) but they wont flash.

Is there a way to possibly test the flasher relay to see if it is bad? I did look in the book and couldn't find anything that would find a way to test it.

Are the bulbs installed the correct way ?

yea they all worked just fine with the old handle bar switch. there all brand new, the back to would blink with the old switch, and the front one would too. but then i got a new handle bar switch and the new front turn signals, installed them. but now nothing blinks. the fronts are dual filament so they come on, but nothing with blink, and all bulbs are installed right. i even put the old turn signals back on and they wont even blink

Ok so if I follow your logic correctly....
1) The Old turn flashers worked with old switch...
2) New flashers worked with old switch....
but the
3) new flashers won't work with the new switch?......and you think it is the flasher relay?

Question...Do the old flashers work with the new switch?
Question... What is the wattage of your new bulbs?

The symptom  you are describing happens when the new flasher light bulbs draw too little power (watts) like what happens when folks install LED flasher lights. When the LED (or other low wattage lamps) activate and start drawing power, it is not enough to activate the reed switch assembly within the flasher relay. (the clicker) The result is what you are describing...the light stays on and does not flash. It's not the relay's fault. It was designed to work with 22 watt light bulbs, not the lower wattage bulbs common today.
Google LED turn signals and you will see this discussion.
The solution is to install resistors to "trick" the oem flasher into activating...or install a aftermarket solid state flasher.  Cheers!   Pat

Listen to Pat, It sounds like you have the wrong bulbs in that thing.

the old turn signals worked with the old switch yes
new switch did not work with new or old, and then when I reinstalled the old switch the old switch wouldn't work with new or old BUT they would light up just fine, just not flash,(dual filament)

The rear signals are LED, i had them installed before i messed around with the fronts. And they worked perfectly fine with the system, but once the front was installed(which are normal standard light bulbs) they wouldn't work either way with the new or old handlebar switch, then i tried putting all the old turn signals back on and still nothing with the new or old handle bar switch, except that the front would light up but not blink, that's why i have a feeling its the flasher relay.

Question...Do the old flashers work with the new switch? no they do not, they light up cause of the dual filament but will not flash, not with the new or old switch.

Question... What is the wattage of your new bulbs?  I have no idea, all i know is they are standard blinkers, nothing fancy or anything.

You have no idea huh? Then I have no idea how to help you.....

If your flasher relay works one way, then it does not work another way, the problem is not your flasher relay...

Since I am bored................Pat, again is right. The problem is not the relay flasher box.

I would guess the flasher was fine. Then, someone wanted to put aftermarket signals on.

these aftermarket signals happen to have "double filament" bulbs.

The FJ probably only has single, and when both filaments lit up,

the added amperage was more than the components can handle.

Which only complicates the real problem.

no, the stock turn signals are also dual filament. and i didnt say one worked one way and another worked another. i said it use to work fine and now either way i use the stock or aftermarket signals or the stock or aftermarket handle bar switch, none of it works.

So what else could it be if i put the stock turn signals and the stock handlebar switch back on besides the flasher?

the stock turn signals on the bike are also dual filament, and if that complicates it then why would puttoing the old turn signals back on with the old handle bar switch still not work?
