Will 86 oil pan work on 92 FJ?

 :dash1: :dash1:  :ireful:  FUCK!

I was just going to change the oil on Klavdy's 92 FJ...and as I was trying to break free the oil drain plug I broke open a big chunk of the oil pan!!  It looks like my open end wrench arm hit the front protruding thingy in front of the oil drain plug and knocked it right off - taking a big chunk of the drain pan with it.

I have my 86 FJ sitting unused in the garage.  I could steal the oil pan from it for now (unless someone has one they could send out quickly).  I'm fairly certain these pieces should be interchangeable, but I want to know for sure.

It looks like I could drop both bottom engine supports and unbolt the old pan and bolt up the new pan with the engine still supported in the frame.  Yeah?   Can I??

FMD...maybe I've working out too much...   :wacko2:      Hey, I did end up loosening up the drain plug though!

Marsh, As far as I know that was one part that stayed the same from the 1100s all the way up to the XJRs. Also try some JB weld and glue it back in, Stef did it years ago on her KZ750 when it spit out the drive chain Se rode it thet way until she sold the bike and it never lleaked a drop

Right now just waiting for parts to put the FZ1 back togther after my crash.  Fingers crossed it will be done by tomarrow and then I can go out and set up my Race Tech front end.

Call around to some auto parts stores and ask if they have any "Hylomar Sealant".  It's a non-hardening sealant that is designed to coat gaskets with so you can take them off with out having to replace the gasket every time.

Marsh,
All of the pans are the same. I have one here clean and ready to go that I can send you along with a new gasket.

Let me know, Randy

Guys, Randy is going to send me a new oil pan & gasket...what a guy!!   :yahoo:   Seriously dude...you just made my month!   :drinks:

And you guys were right...they are interchangeable throughout the different years.

Marsh, if it doesn't work out, I have one on the '90 engine in the garage that Klavdy can bring over.

Thanks for the JB weld suggestion Kim, although Randy is hooking me up with a GREAT deal now...so it looks like it will all work out.  I did once JB weld the oil filter casing on my 89 after I tightened up the bolt too much (7 lbs of torque?  always seems like it should be much tighter) and it held no prob until I got a new housing.

Hey, do you think you and Steph will be able to make the WCR?  Only 14 days to go!!   :yahoo:

Damn! I didn't know you had a crash on your FZ1??!?   Did you post it up here?  Did I miss it?  Hope you are ok.

Now Dan... we can't talk about steroids without including Henry R in the topic could we?  Luckily he is at the ECSR right now and not able to defend himself...or I'd be twisted into a pretzel by now.
