Got her going and it sounds great! Carbs have been completely rebuilt with Randy's kits and roughly sync'ed
The engine is idling nicely but when I turn off the engine and disconnect the temporary fuel tank I notice fuel bubbling out of main air jet and the top of the needle jet/emulsion tube on the two right hand carbs (looking down from the seat) Not at all sure why it's doing that.

Also, unrelated the rear brake running lights get brighter when I rev the engine, possible alternator problems?
Thanks,
Chris

... not sure about your carnal, but would sau your. alternator is fine and doing what it should be ...
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

Alternator (generator, really) prolly ok.  Idle needs to be around 1100, incidentally.

Carbs ?  Most likely a stuck float or something borked in the float needle assembly.  Give them some beatings and if it's a float, that'll unstick it.  If no love, then rip it all open and swap out four orings that are holding the needle seats in.

Andy, a few little bangs on the float bowls and it dried right up.
Opened the fuel/air screws to 3 turns, sync ed the carbs properly and it sounds beautiful.
Compression with the engine warmed up was 135-140 lbs on all four cylinders so not too bad for 55,000 kms.
