My FJ dosn't not like to be over filled. It will put out blue smoke like crazy if over filled a bit. When the oil level is kept in the middle of the sight gage it runs great. Check the simple things first. You probably already have checked it but I had to mention the symptom.  Its happened with other FJ's. Have a good day :).
