I done some searches and can't seem to come up with any results on this.  I'll take some tips or someone to point me to a link.  Just looking at the possibility of adding a outlet to plug a garman, cell phone, or whatever on a long ride.  Is the charging system capable of handling it and where is a good location to tap in and mount.  I have a 90 if that makes a differance.  Thanks. :wacko3:

Yes, the system should handle it just fine, no more than you are talking about.  Just have to calculate the total load if you add heated clothing, etc.

I found room for a Powerlet outlet in the center of the right inner fairing panel, and had them make up a 12" Streetpilot cord with a right angle plug.

I also used a Powerlet kit to power my tankbag, with a double pigtail to power cell phone, etc.

I went and  purchased an adapter from Pep Boy ( local Auto store ) - it is a 12volt adapter with a flange mount ( basically a flat side you could put screw though something).  Mine is mounted under the seat right beside my tool pouch.  It came with a fuse and wires to connect direct to the battery but I have a disconnect pigtail accessible at the handle you hold to lift the bike on the center stand.  I only use my for my garmin therefore accessibility is not a requirement.  I had a extra power cord for the garmin so it is permanently plugged in and I ran the wire underneath all the frame and such to the front where I mount it.

When not in use I just unplug it from the side as I mentioned.  Works for me.... but you will need an extra power cord ...but if you want multiple uses for your outlet this isn't the way to go

I bought mine from wally world for $5 and mounted it in the upper right inside fairing panel.
I ran it directly to the battery with an inline fuse.
Works great for my GPS and cell phone charger.
I've even forgot to unplug it for a whole day at work and the bike still fired up without a problem, so it must not draw a hell of a lot of juice.

I have by far the cheapest rednecked $4 plug - zip-tied just to the right of the ignition switch. I put an inline fuse in it near the battery. I have a tank bag that houses the GPS.

That clumsy contraption on the left is my camera mount.

Speaking of outlets, this is mine.  It is a flush-mount DC power port I have on the Gixxer.  I ordered it though Amazon it was described as follows:

Marine Grade Cigarette Lighter Socket 12 VDC
Sold by: Parts Express International Inc.
$6.78 each (~$11 with shipping)

I mounted it through the suspension adjustment hole which, when in use is out of the way, just below my knee.  It fits snugly, but can be removed in the event I need to tweak the suspension.

I suspect that there is an FJ application for such a thing as well.  What's nice about it, is the cover looks to be able to keep it quite dry in wet conditions.

Thanks guys, appreciate the responces.  I didn't even think about a "marine" type outlet.  Seems like it would be a little sturdier and have be fairly weather proof as well.  Had some recent unplanned "expenditures" (insurance, old state tax bill sent to me by the EX, etc.) so I haven't been really hustling to get it done.  Might have to wait till Fall to take my trip so local rides are going to be the norm for the next month or so, or at least till we get our ride slush fund back up to snuff.
