First bike always needs to be something to serve as sport tourer - I like to travel need comfort and luggage..  for 2nd bike I'd go with something like of Duc Hypermotard or KTM superduke or that new Husky 900 twin..

My next bike may actually be a 2 seater sportscar.  Coming to grips with facts - bike just not gonna work for the wife and I.  For one thing I don't enjoy riding two up that much and she likes heat and total rain protection.  I'd like a Boxster but probably settle for mx5

I'm not going to get rid of this bike, but I definitely see myself picking up a Ducati Hypermotard or a KTM 990 SMT when the money is right.  I also would like to get either a BMW RT or the new 6 cylinder LT, as something comfortable enough for my wife to go on longer rides with yet not too luxo-barge.  But actually before any of this happens I definitely see myself picking up a Kymco Downtown or Aprilia Scarabeo as something to ride to work on.  The scoot is near(er) future, the other bikes, not so much.  Perhaps a couple, three years out or so.  I also wouldn't mind a VFR 800 (5th gen) because nothing sounds as good as good as a V4.  Nothing.

wow what a subject.

there are plenty of bikes to play with depending on your mood but finding just one to replace the fj is difficult. I think the closest would be a FZ 1 about a 2003 .

Well if you want the biggest engine on the road and go faster than a Buggati Veyron, you could try the Dodge Tomohawk....

I'm pretty sure my next addition will be a 1992-93 cbr900 fireblade, the one with the twin headlights. Classic bike that symbolizes the change in modern sport bikes, their starting to go up in value now too.

Other than that,

Honda Cb1300
70's norton commando 850
Bimota db4
Suzuki skywave-burgman 650 scooter for 2 up touring
Life's pretty straight without twisties.

Rode a friends 05 F4 MV Augusta a short distance the other day, what a sound!! But...... for comfort I much prefer the FJ. The MV would be nice to punt around a track or a real nice set of NZ twisties but not up here long straight roads. Interesting, my friends first response after getting off the FJ, was wow that is luxury :)

That American "MOTUS" looks interesting.

Closest thing on the market that comes to mind though, is the Suzuki 1250 S.
