If money were no object, there would be a few addition bikes in my stable:

Exotica:
Aprillia RSV4
Ducati 1198
MV F4 Tamborini/ 312 etc.

Somewhat more realistic:
Triumph Tiger
or Triumph 675, -really like the power characteristics of the few triples I've ridden.
Honda 919 -possibly the perfect UJM
VFR800 (pre-VTEC)
KTM Super Duke
Suzuki SV650

Just off the top of my head...  -can't see for shit -just came from the eye doc and my pupils are all dilated... Otherwise, I'd add more.

i was sorta leaning towards the sv650.  how about the honda cbr1000's?

Lotsokids

Yamaha FZ1 or Honda VFR for me.

1. It really depends on your experience level. Newer 1000cc bikes are very light and very powerful.

2. It depends on your riding preference. Longer rides are painful on most sport bikes. That's where the VFR comes in.

Did take long for me to think of this one.

If money were not in the equation I would say the MTT Turbine Superbike also known as the Y2K.

And for more realistic FJR1300..

No real interest in the Japanese liter bikes, they are all just uncomfortable with too much power for the street.  Hell, my GSXR750 has too much power for the street.  1st gear will show you an indicated 92 mph, 6th will show you and indicated 182mph (actually 170 -so I've read).  It's light, and very focused yes, like a thou would be, but given that the 750 has well more than I need, or will ever use -I'm just not all that excited about a bigger engine varient of what I already have.

Notice there's no sign of the so-called hyper-bikes: Busa/ ZX14, these are stupid fast, and lumbering in their own way, I'll probably never own one of these.

Nor are there any touring bikes on my list: Goldwing, BMW RT, FJR, -these bikes will be on my list in the future, when the GSXR, and probably the bike after that, become too damn uncomfortable. -that plus there is just no time to do the big distances those bikes are capable of.

Also, no sign of cruisers: Just not my bag, baby...

Interesting that the FZ1 came up on Lotsokids' list, for whatever reason, I have this impression that that bike is involved in wrecks noticeably more than others, not to mention that the latest iteration was outright panned by the motorcycle mags.

The new Aprilla V4 Tuono would fit the bill for me. Upright ergos, good motor, chassis, suspension and brakes. Mid 400lbs wet.  Should be fun.  Pat

I also have a Ninja 250, but not sure about if I were to get another sport bike.  Maybe FZ1, VFR, ???

Likely would add a dual sport to the garage before another sport bike.

I rode an older Honda 1000 Hurricane once and thought it would be nice to have.
I think the later ones were called CBR 1000F, just as likeable.

Larry,

The SV650 is a great little bike. I rode a naked one. Lovely engine - grunty but will also rev. Comfortable, practical & cheap. I also rode a faired one but it was torture. Looking at Bike Trader I see a V-Storm 1000 '04 with 10k miles for two and a half grand 12 miles from my house. Ugly as sin but a lot of metal for the money....must.... resist....must... resist.

Yup.  That was my last bike, the CBR1000F.  Ultimately it was too peaky, and too heavy, not a horrible bike, but nowhere near the lithe corner hunter GSX-R, that replaced it.

The CBR1000RR is is horse of a different color however.  This, like the R1, ZX-10, GSX-R1000, is a dedicated full on sport bike. With few concessions made for street riding.  These are this bike that as above, simply have limited street application -IMHO.

Ditto the wee strom although the bars are a tad wide for lane splitting. Just about to get my 09 cb400 assessed by the insurers, might be a write off. I left it parked in a street near my work and when I returned later that night I found the bike covered in clear lacquer overspray from nearby building site. Its has set real hard and almost impossible to remove. Will be interesting to see what the insurer says most of the bike will have to be dismantled and reassembled with new parts. The builder told me to @#$ off but I have told him I will be back....(thank you Dexter)
