What are everyone's travel plans? ...and I figured it was time to start a new NESR thread.

My original plan was to ride from Whitby to the Kingston area Thursday night (28th), ride to Maine Friday, do the group rides Saturday, ride home Sunday and have a day with the family Monday (civic holidy). That's what I did last year and it worked out well. The ride home Sunday was a bit long, but with more breaks and less 401 it should be fine.

Last year a few guys arrived Saturday and did the second group ride on Sunday, so we had a nice overlap Saturday night.

I am still planning to ride down on the Friday as well.  The last I heard, Dan is still sticking to his original plans.  He is staying out at the lake for the summer, so, I don't think he acesses his computer much.  We went for a good 6 1/2hr ride on Sunday the 3rd.:good:  If we don't hear from him soon I'll give him a call...

Do you have a route in mind, Bob? I remember talking about crossing at wolfe Isle, and heading up the St. Lawrence.  That will be a breath of fresh air! The 401 is boring and brutal.

I'm flexible for the return trip; either Sunday, or Monday.

I think a few of us are hoping to show up early on Friday. (After 11:00 am)

get settled in for a little while, and then go for a short ride.

Hey guys,

I planned on riding to Maine on Friday with Bob & Paul, and returning on Monday, but if both of those guys are leaving on the Sunday I will probably ride with them as opposed to riding by myself on Monday.

Bob if you are coming to stay at my place in Kingston on Thursday night plan your arrival for around 8pm as I work till 7:30pm.

I am staying at the trailer for the summer but check the forums and email from work.

I planned on leaving for Kingston after work, around 6:30pm. That should get me to Kingston by 9. Can you send me contact details?

I'm starting to feel a bit bad about the Canadians heading back Sunday. I just thought it would be good to have a day at home Monday for the civic holiday. And I didn't want to deal with the returning traffic on Monday. Still, it's nice to have Monday as a buffer.

This is the route I took last year on the way to Maine
http://maps.google.ca/maps?saddr=Gananoque,+ON&daddr=44.2751,-75.20183+to:44.29407,-74.09412+to:44.27779,-73.9999+to:44.3192373,-73.9150245+to:44.35625,-73.8508+to:44.45516,-73.61411+to:West+Bethel,+ME+04286,+USA&hl=en&sll=44.403373,-73.760834&sspn=0.821192,1.234589&geocode=FU5tpAIdutR1-ykX1JAWEUXNTDFBGV5QVmuzOQ%3BFZyVowId2oKE-ymB3GLEQb_MTDGfp_WYYf7NwA%3BFbbfowId2GmV-ymJejf-fxzLTDFr5Eh5T_305w%3BFR6gowId5NmW-ymP8aKnf-LKTDEEmF2Hc3vx7w%3BFQVCpAIdcCWY-yk7BlrAxPzKTDGsSsnmTrc6iA%3BFZrSpAIdUCCZ-ynrfbEH9fvKTDE-ZNcYAyy8Ug%3BFfhUpgId4ryc-ymjqxBPGVnKTDGaUg3VGIAP1w%3BFbqDpQIdaMLG-ynDo3GxZcOzTDFcNWRMI5ktbw&mra=dvme&mrsp=4&sz=10&via=1,2,3,4,5,6&z=10.
It's only 580km with a nice boat ride in the middle.
On the way back I did the 401... I'd prefer to not do that this time around.

I'm heading east on Route 2 on Friday, would like to meet up with the Canadian contingent for the latter part of your trip. Any guesses for when (and where) y'all will be getting on 2?

If we get away early on our return trip Monday morning I'm game for that....the traffic for most of the trip can't be as nuts as it is on the 401.  But I'm easy...and would prefer to ride with others, too. I'm game for the scenic route on the return trip.  Either way, it will be an excellent weekend of riding!

We can 'play it by ear', too. No pressure, Bob... :drinks:

The route from Wolfe Isle looks good to me....

Hey Doug! That would be great! According the map and directions, we will get off the ferry in Burlington 350+kms into our trip. That will be probably be around 5 hours into our trip.  So ...early afternoon? 1-2pm?  (Bob?)

We should be able to make the 1:25 PM ferry from Port Kent. That gets us to Burlington around 2:30. Would that work for you Doug?

Doug,
I don't think we'll be able to make the 1:25 PM ferry. 2:45 PM seems more likely. It also adds some slack to the schedule, and I'd hate to rush, miss the ferry and then wait an hour and 20 minutes. Would 3:45 PM from Burlington still work for you?

Here's what I see for the trip down. Time and odometer are rough and rounded.

Let me know what you think.
We can take 89 and meet Doug in St. Johnsbury if you are worried about time, but I think the notch will be a lot more fun.
I say a local guide is the best choice in a foreign land.  :good2:

Given a choice I'd prefer to avoid I-81.
This route adds about 25km. Sounds like it's worth it.

To clarify, I don't care either way.

You guys are riding a long way, and this would add some more time. (Probably 45min-1hour).

If we want to take 89 as per your original plan, I could meet you guys at the Rt 2 exit off of 89:
http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=44.423145,-73.007369&hl=en&ll=44.425076,-73.008099&spn=0.039782,0.090895&sll=44.422992,-73.007369&sspn=0.019892,0.045447&mra=mift&mrsp=1&sz=15&t=h&z=14

Will you guys be able to call once you get off the boat?

Let me know either way!
