Hey, everybody!

After a good-natured complaint about new members completing an introductory post, it occurred to me that I joined almost two months ago and I never bothered to introduce myself...

My name is Mike, I live in Minneapolis, MN. I ride a 1992 FJ1200AD. I bought my bike in early March, or rather, it was bought for me. My wife got this thing for me as a Graduatioin/40th Birthday gift (albeit a little early on both counts).

Currently, I am a student studying Engineering Drafting and Product Design at Dunwoody College here in Minneapolis. I graduate in early June, and I hope to find gainful employment soon thereafter. Previously, I worked as an Auto Service Technician (greasy wrench), and I managed a Towing and Recovery company (glorified car thieves) which contractually patroled the streets of this fine town looking for parking violators. Karma came to find me after all of my years of mis-deeds, and after an unpleasant injury on the job, I am now looking to stay clean and dry.

Minnesota has a comparatively short riding season, and I hope to make the best of it. Since acquiring my FJ in early March, I have racked up a soild 1400 very comfortable miles on it. It beats the NightHawk 650 I once owned, or my 1978 CB400T-2 (THE HAWK!!). Regrettably, the previous owner was extremely passive about regular maintenance, and my wallet bleeds in blue, silver, and green.

But, it's getting better. More riding and less wrenching each and every week. It's good to know that I have a huge knowledge base here that I can call on to ease my pain.

Randy,

Theres an instructor at Dunwoody who is a HUGE cycle guy. The first day that I rolled this one in, he was quite enthused. Told me that he owned a 1987 and 1991 FJ. He taches Automated Systems and Robotics, but I can't recall his name...(he's not been one of MY instructors). Maybe he's the guy?

Yeah, I'm close, but just can't quite remember which of those guys it was...  I keep thinking it was Bixby, but not sure.  It's been a while.    :scratch_one-s_head:

Amen, brother! That's his name - Bixby or Bigsby or something. Talk about a total recall memory! He really seems to know the bike.
