Hey all you California FJ owners,

I got a phone call yesterday from Cal State Sacramento asking about my 1990 Yamaha.  Turned out it was a survey as to condition and use of my bike.  They were interested in what mods have been done, mostly the smog equipment, IE the charcoal canister that differs CA bikes from the 49 state models. (Their ph# is 916-278-2309) I asked where they got my information and they said, the DMV.

I think the point to this survey is see if the Government wants to smog our bikes.  I know that they smog bikes in Arizona, but as of now, we do not.

So, if they call you, tell em that your bike is stock. Last thing I want to do is spend extra $$$'s to smog a bike that I might put 1500 miles a year on.  I am sure the lot of you guys feel the same.

smog , yuk

I have the cali bike and it was relieved of the smog stuff by the p.o.

never even seen what is supposed to be on it.

lived in AZ over 20 years ago and was shocked when I had to smog check a bike back then.

if they call me the bike is all stock.

These days it's only in Maricopa Cty (Phoenix), they stopped doing it in Pima Cty (tucson area) a couple years ago....   :drinks:

Arizona Smog Check was no problem.......(except for the fee)
They only have you start the bike, and idle for about 15 seconds.......that's all......
They don't check any hoses or equipment.......they didn't even mention my Kerker 4-into-1..............It's all just a money-maker for the State/County. The annual smog fee costs more than the Registration does......at least for the FJ.

That's all behind me now, as I have relocated to Denver.........Do they smog bikes up here Lee?
