Hey guys last night I was on my way home and it shuts off and lose all electric power like the key was shut off. I searched and all plugs are good and noticed a fuse by the batt blown. Replaced and blown right away. Any ideas.  It's a 85 fj1100. Thanks andrew

You have a short somewhere.  Start ohmming wires and connectors.  Look for signs of wire chafing everywhere the wiring harness makes a sharp turn.

Ok I'll check that out. Does that lil glass fuse control the whole electrical system ? What's best way to take fairing off?

irishluck

id see if you can trace the wires coming from that fuse if theres a way? not sure if there is or not but if so do that and it will lead you to what wire is shorting out

Jeeping

It comes out goes the a fuse holder then back into the wire loom along the frame.  Trying to find a wire diagram now.

Get check all the wiring. It's the red wire to key switch and relay by batt. Messed with the wiring and put new fuse in and still blows it.

Found it. It was the plug going to starter. Must of got wet and melted together.  Thanks I'm sure I'll be back on. My clutch is slipping after ingot piped super trapp , jetted and k and n. Runs strong :)

Well I fixed wire plug and unplugged everything to that fuse and ended up being starter selinoid. I replaced that plug and put in a fuse then it started right up. Took a break went to put back together and it blew a few more fuses till i narrowed down to starter selinoid. I unhooked starter from it and key ignition and popped it so only thing let was noid.  I hope lol

I'd go ahead and replace that starter solenoid with a starter relay.  :-)

Right Randy?

(I'm sorry, I just couldn't pass that up)

Never mind. I'm dumb. I still had one of these wire hooked up in pic. Bike starts till I hook what ever this wire goes to. Right when I touch the red wire with butt connector it dies and blows fuse. It was also runnin weird but that could be the air box off. Any idea what this goes to. Please not the stater
