Hi all, just wondering, when changing to the fzr front wheel and gixxer rear wheel, I will be upgrading to the blue dot fronts and rear will have the gixxer std. my question is, will I or what is the best master cyl to upgrade to?? also, if I use the fzr front wheel, it looks as though I use my bikes forks and just replace the wheel, is this correct? Thanks for the help. cheers

helps if you state the year of fj in question. 84-87, you will need forks from 88-93.

if you have 89 and later , just install front wheel.
89 and later forks needed for blue dots.
fjr 1300 masters work for brake and clutch and look close to fj .

Blue dots should bolt to your '88 fork just fine... what year is your FZR wheel?

what size is your current front wheel?                 some 88's had 16" and some had 17".

or simply do your forks have anti-dive on them?

I put master cylinders on front brake and clutch, both from FJR1300s. They perform very well, especially with the blue dot front brakes on the Genesis wheel.  A definite improvement on OEM.

As yet haven't got the fzr wheel, am just gathering info at the moment, will be doing the replacement when the front tyre, yes a 16 not sure about antidive, needs replacing' as when i bought it recently the previous owner had front and rear tyres replaced and have 95% tread left. Is there a difference in fzr specific year wheels and if so, which would be best to use? I am thinkin the fjr1300 master cyl sounds good as are readily available to me. Love the site and all the help is muchly welcomed. Thanks again. See you on the road.

I have an 88' FZR1000 front wheel. It needs some cosmetic love. PM me if you are interested.

Dumb question, can anyone tell me the difference between the '87-'88 FZR 1000 wheels and the later model ones? I'm just guessing that the later ones have am electronic speedo. Y/N?

They use a different size axle (sizes escape me at the moment).

Bearings in the OD/ID required to convert are not available.

The axle size jumps from 15MM to 17MM. You need two shims the same width as the bearing or bearing seat and only 1MM thick. Can be done, I think others have made it work.
