I dropped my FJ off at a Hungarian motorcycle repair shop for my already expired mandatory inspection (I think every 2 years). Well it seems my front tire is pretty worn and won't pass inspection. It's going to cost me $198 to have him purchase and install the Dunlop 16" tire. It wasn't cheaper anywhere else locally. Seems pretty steep to me. He had slight issues with my Vance & Hines pipe. "Not original!" he said, but he didn't think it would be a problem. They are VERY rigid here when it comes to stock equipment!!! Universal aftermarket parts are virtually unheard of. You can hardly get any parts here without your VIN. My fork seals are blown and my timing chain adjuster has a cracked flange and leaking oil. I'm holding my breath hoping he won't make a big deal of those. I had a paper towel with me yesterday and every time he would turn around I was wiping down the forks. Factory seals were ordered from the Yamaha dealer here, but haven't arrived yet. Ironically, I just received my new A.P.E. timing chain adjuster yesterday about 5 minutes after I dropped off the bike.

Crossing my fingers with all the little stuff he could find. The cost of this inspection is already up to $263. I had to do it now as this inspection is already overdue.

I PASSED THE INSPECTION!!! YAY!  :dance2:

New front tire was installed - a Continental. It looks pretty cheap and crappy. Oh well. The inspector noticed the leaking fork seals, but I told him they were ordered already from Yamaha and he was O.K. with that. I asked if he could order some plastic fork guards (those little deflectors in front of the inner fork tubes). He said no problem. I wish you could see us try to communicate. It's pretty comical - a lot of drawing, pointing, and making sounds. Ha ha.

The total set me back $255. Way more than I wanted to spend, but it's over for 2 more years.

I need to still install the carb jets and timing chain adjuster, then I'll be ready to get "Old Shakey" back onto the Hungarian drag track on 19 AUGUST. I can't wait!!!
