Nah, Ed just likes to say "Amsoil 10w40" as much as possible...         :boredom:

Take a look at some of the videos of the rallys. How many times were the double yellow lines crossed (NO passing zones). And its on video. These actions are a contributing factor to how the general population views motorcycles. When you say "WOW" there is plenty to go around. Road rage takes two.....

For god sakes...  We agree on this.  There are no innocents here, on the forum, or in this video.  Regarding the video posted: one broke a law and risked his own life -not smart, and will eventually get him killed, in my opinion.  His actions touched off the situation.  The 'WOW' comment was because the pickup truck driver was TRYING to run the bike off the road.  Not sure where you hail from, but that's +/- attempted homicide round these parts.  Had he been successful, it would have been vehicular homicide.  It's a grossly inappropriate reaction to a smaller offense.  If you J-walk, am I allowed to TRY and run you over?  No.

Specific to the videos of the rallies, I simply have not looked at them, Leon goes on and on about me 'not criticizing the double line crossing indiscretions in those videos' (this is mostly because I was careless enough to criticize him when he posted an embed video of himself crossing the double yellow -he feels I have singled him out, and I believe he's still stewing on this -for whatever reason.)  You comments are shockingly close to his.  I can tell you that had I watched the videos of the rallies and seen it, I have no doubt that I would have called out those knuckleheads as well.

The issue is a personal one for me.  A buddy of mine died doing this, so it makes me cringe when I see it.

The motorcyclist deserves a ticket, The truck driver belongs in jail.

There is a huge difference between crossing the double yellow line on a country road & trying to kill a man because you don't agree with what he does.

I'm sorry for your loss Dan

good ole 22, even if the bike was in the right you gotta watch out for the locals on four wheelers, half made boggers, dirt bikes, and go karts around the stretch of road in the beginning, id call them yocals, or rednecks, but i was born and raised about 45 minutes from there, plus it would be totally hipocritical, i was a young 12-17 year old kid running around on 17 with all my motorized vehicle's with out a license.

p.s.- once you get past piner on 17 its a pretty beautiful ride.
sometime's its "broken", sometimes its actually broken, but usually its just sitting there cause i got one too many in, and have alcohol induced A.D.D.

Gary Hudson (the truck driver) was charged with 2 counts of reckless endangering.  The rider was not charged with passing in a no passing zone. It turns out that it is legal to pass a slower vehicle in a double yellow zone in the state of Kentucky. I've lived in KY for 23 years and I have always wanted to know what the regulations are on this.
So, to sum things up... The motorcyclist passed the truck legally, and the truck driver attempted to run the motorcyclist off the road, and then threatened the rider with a weapon when both vehicles stopped, resulting in 2 counts of recless endangering.

I'm getting a video camera.

good  :good2:

it all worked out then.

the double yellow Kentucky crossing deal is probably a farm vehicle thing that a lot of states have.

I'm as guilty as the next at passing on a double yellow.  There is always a risk, but when I choose to do so, it's no more dangerous than going into that blind right-hander and "assuming" there's no gravel or oncoming traffic in your lane.

Sometimes I believe I'm actually doing a favor for the driver in front of me.  Too many times I see them driving way over their heads "just to show that jerk on the motorcycle back there that I'm as fast as he is."

They're typically going way faster on the straights than I want to go; unfortunately, they park it in every corner and I catch up.  I try to be patient and usually it works when they turn off.  But there are always those individuals that take it personally and seem to have something to prove.

This is bad when you're in a group since if you get by, the driver will take his frustration out on the following riders, not good.

Sadly, all this could be avoided very easily.  If they would display a little courtesy, this interactions would be over in a few seconds.  All they have to do is slow up slightly and let the motorcycle pass (insted of nailing it up to 100mph in the only passing section for 30 miles) and we would be gone from their lives forever.  Yes, that's all it takes to get through this confrontation; unfortunately, it rarely goes that way.  The activity gets dragged out because it's a personal affront to get passed, tempers flair, and stupid thing ensue.

Shame, it really doesn't need to happen that way.

Wow, just watched the video.  I think the guy in the truck proves my point.

However, I also agree that there is plenty of blame to go around.  For example, there were quite a few houses on that road.  I don't agree with riding that fast on roads that populated.  Plus, that sounded like a loud aftermarket exhaust on the camera bike.  I discourage loud exhausts on my rides.  We're out there shitting in these people's neighberhoods, so I try not to be too obnoxious.

Plenty of stupidity to spread around.

link to a video that has had speed and "telemetry" synced up. He is going all that fast, but I agree the bike is a bit loud.
