Ok all you hot custom FJ owners out there, looks like Yamaha wants you to show off your hot modified bikes. Pat, you listening here?  Winners will get a cash prize and maybe a trip to Laguna Seca for the Moto GP.

Here is the link to the entrants and more details:

http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/ssvbs/SuperSportShow.aspx

There are other FJs here that should compete as well.  So send in your entries and show off your stuff.

Keep smiling,

They've been doing this for a few years.  The old stuff NEVER wins.  They want the R1 with pimped out chrome crap.  Newer stuff that will help move bikes off the showroom.  Yamaqha quit giving a flip about us when the first ABS units started failing in the mid '90s

If an old bike won, how could they sell more of them?  One of their biggest competitors (particularly with crap economy and all) is their prior machinery.

Hey,

Couldn't hurt.  Get your bike out there in the national spotlite.  After all, they let you post a pic and the mods done.  Great PR for the FJ.  I mean that a 20 something bike can be built to meet and compete with the modern stuff.  Pretty rare machine that can do that.

Just MHO,

Damn Pat,
You might just owe Candieandy a bit of an appology for that statement.  At least be a little more diplomatic about it.  :-)

I think we should all enter and swamp them with FJs.  Maybe we can beat the 41 R1s already entered (yawn, wow, another "custom" R1, yawn again).

Andy - just a thought (and my own opinion)... how about painting your frame black?

And what kind of bike is your rear swingarm from?

P.S. - That was awesome timing, Pat. That kind of thing usually happens to me! :wacko2:

The swingarm is off of a 2003-2004 R1. i thought about painting it black... i like the silver frame, but black would look cool too. i just dont feel like pulling the plastics/motor this early in the season to paint. maybe this will be a project for next fall.

Paint the frame red like the wheels, it will visually tie the front and rear together.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

'86 Ambulance - Bent frame, cracked case, due for an overhaul
'89 Stormy Blue - Suits my Dark Side

That is way cool.  I am happy to see one of our bikes in the Yamaha Sportbike show list.  That black FJ is beautiful, but the pipe hides that sweet swingarm.  Love that front end also.

Good luck and I hope that they award with a winner's nod.
