Cycle Gear Leather Jacket and Pants for $230 - plus $35 off!

So, after reviewing the recent Cycle Gear mail catalog - I went down to a store today to check out some of their new "House Brand" leathers (BiLT is the name).  The prices are unbelievable - $230.00 for a leather jacket AND pants.  They are effectively cutting out two middlemen by having their own house brand: 1. the wholesale distribution network and 2. the actual store (all of their stores are company owned - not franchises).  I was skeptical going in thinking that the quality would be shit.  I was pleasantly surprised!  While it is no Vanson - I actually think it is up there (probably made in the same sweatshops) with Alpinestars.

Anyway - I purchased the below Jacket and Pants for $230.  As you can see in the Ad - there is a free gift - a pretty shitty pair of gloves (priced at $35 in the store).  Since I needed new gloves anyway I asked if I could apply that amount to a new pair and they said sure!  So I also bought a $70 pair of gloves and got them for $35.

The pants do not come with hip armor - but they DO have pockets sewn in for hip armor - so I'll just take some from some of my other riding gear.  Also - no backpad in the jacket - so I'll do the same thing.  It is hard to believe that this suit is 1/4 the price of my last Firstgear suit (which I actually purchased at the same Cycle Gear store - via a special order 6 years ago) - and because I could actually try on several sizes of pants and jackets in the store it fits me PERFECT!

It will be nice to have properly fitting pants - no more soggy bottom ass (it always tempts Pat) for me!

Anyway - while this stuff is no Vanson - it easily holds its own with the Joe Rocket - Fieldshear - Alpinestars (some think this brand is higher end because of their prices - I disagree - I have a pair of their $260 boots and they are no higher quality than my Cortech $110 boots).  I haven't actually gone for a ride in it yet - but I thought I would throw out this deal for those who might be interested in stepping up to real riding gear at a VERY reasonable price.

I am jumping in for you Marsh, did you see how he was getting is ass felt up by Pat. Pakistani or not, the saggy ass needs to go!!! Pat can find something else to polish (insert picture of Marsh with a very shiny ass..... :nea:). On the other hand Klavdy, your Vansons held up quite well for your low side. Did you send them in for a tune up before the WCR? If not you could swing by a Cycle Gear and get BiLT up for the rally while you are here. Are there any Australia companies making riding gear from Kangaroo parts? I hear the roo scrotum is good for gloves, very flexible, tough and you always feel like you got the world by the balls.

Marsh, I bought a pair of the pants in April, they'rrrrrrrrr great.  Like you said good price ... good enough to pay regular price.  The pants at the time for me were 99 bones.  They also had BilT boots on sale for 70 but the pair they had were returned with a scuff ... knock down another 20pct and picked them up for 55.

One note for those of you with 90 model FJ -- Cycle gear also have a jacket that is the exact color for the 90 Blue-gray bike.  I think the price on the jacket was 130.00. Its Black - with Titanium/White.  I checked it out and it was perfect.   It can come with pants to match.  I was really tempted but having just bought the pants and I like my Yamaha jacket  I couldn't pull the trigger.  But if it ever goes on sale.....

And doesn't it add to the joy when you have good riding gear?

Yep, I bet the top quality leather felt good to Klavdy... as he was sliding down Angeles Crest Highway.....

Yep, it sure did.
Leather rocks.
Also, having good gear makes the ride better, no loose jeans and jackets flapping and whipping in the wind.
Dunno about Ed's homo erotic fantasies though, but if he likes thinking about me wearing leather against my "Hiney",well,,,

I thought about a 'built' buy, but scored a cheap second hand, lightly crashed, 1 piece Tecknic suit off ebay, since I'm so bloody broke. Anyway, when it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by it's all round condition, so you just may see it at the WCR.
Although it's not WCR riders favored black, it matches the 86 paint job sort of. Hope its not going to be too much for you all, I think I look freaking boss in it.

I'll jump in on this from the lady's point of view...yes we have one.....actually many.
I was skeptical about the quality as well and we had been getting the flyers from Cycle Gear for awhile. I had some Tourmaster pants, but baggy doesn't even describe them....so I decided to take a chance and stop in. The ladies Bilt pants fit me perfectly. No hip armor as was mentioned earlier, but knee armor. So I bought them and I couldn't be happier. That being said, I thought I would sell my Tourmaster pants until last week in Boone, when for a couple of days I needed all the clothes I owned and then some to stay warm.
