XS1100 carbs

Can anyone help me with info about FJ1100 or 1200 carbs.
I have a 1981 XS1100 and the diaphrams are shot . To replace them would cost £200 plus, which made me wonder if a set of FJ carbs are that much different to my old girls.
Can I find inlet sizes and general dimensions through this forum ??

What's the problem with the old ones?

If it's just pinholes, they can probably be repaired.

the old diaphrams have been repaired bofore and the rubber has started to perish..

There are a few people on here that help out, maybe your close enough to one.
So you can bring yours to compare against. I know nothing about the xs carb compared to the FJ.

Can anybody tell me if the carbs off a FJ1100 or 1200 would fit my 1981 XS1100 ??
Are the inlets anywhere near the same size ? or are they completely different in every way..
My diaphrams are beyond repair now, and a new set costs hundreds..

Yes.
According to the official Yamaha parts microfishe, your 1981 XS1100 shares the same part # (14900) as our 1984-1987 non fuel pump FJ carbies.

Thank you Pat. They do look to share a lot of the XS 1100 carb parts . According to my Haynes manual the model number is BS34-II 2H9-0 not sure what all of that means, but as far as I could see BS34 doesnt match ?

Are you from the UK?

I've put some FJ1100 carbs on my XS11, and they are a better fit, slide right on, you just need to push the airbox further forward.
As to how the bike runs with standard FJ carbs, like a bag 'o' shite. You will need serious jetting mods.
