Just watching a program from the states and listening to them whine about the price of gas. They said it was $3.86 a gallon, that is a deal up here we are paying $1.32 a litre which works out to about $5.50 a gallon. What makes me so mad is that Canada is selling about 2/3 of our production to the states so you folks are getting our gas way cheaper than we can buy it. Not trying to make any mad at me just stating a fact, anybody got any smart remarks. :rofl2: (popcorn)

carsick

Yep, and I can buy and carry any handgun I want. Now if I could just afford medical care...

Exporting "gas" to the USA has no effect on the price you pay at the pump in Canada. That is a consequence of the amount of tax your government chooses to impose. I'd tell you the price of fuel here in the UK but you'd think I was joking.

Stuart, I bet I would'nt think you are joking. What makes me mad also is in the next province over(Alberta) the gas prices are generally 10 to 20 cents lower than here. Also the gas companies make sure that about 3 days before a long weekend or holiday that the price usually jumps about 4to 6 cents a litre. They try to tell us that they are not gouging us but I don't think that most believe them. Bout all we can do is grin and bear it!

And just what effect do you think whining on an obscure website about fuel prices in Canada will have?
If you are that emotionally involved in something far beyond this sites purview, why aren't you writing to the powers that be and posting your correspondence here so we all may be dazzled by your grasp of international economics?

I've been paying over $7 / gallon since I arrived here in Hungary in 2009. I just did the math and yesterday I paid $8.25 / gallon when I filled up.

Kind of like in the U.S. - I just pay it because I have no other choice... well... I could drive a horse-cart like the rest of my villiage.

but the horses have to be fed and their shit cleaned up......makes fuel seem economical by comparison even at 8 bucks a gallon.

of course the KOokaloo is still available thru true horse-power but they get tired pretty quickly.

My FJ never gets tired!  :good2:

Here you go...

When you calculate the base price, US gasoline purchasers actually pay about $.03/gal more than users elsewhere.

The huge prices seen in Europe and elsewhere are the result of taxes.

Also figure in the fact that the US Government subsidizes the big oil companies' exploration, and US buyers pay a good deal more than is reflected at the pump.

Your 'fact' is erroneous.

When I enlisted in the Marines and went over to Iraq, I got asked on numerous occasions (by total pussies) how I felt about "dying for oil".
I would gladly die, and kill, for cheap gasoline.  Cheap fuel is necessary for the American Way.  So is cheap ammo.  Unfortunately, neither are cheap any more.
Well, I didn't die, but gas is still expensive.  Hmmm...
Excuse the rambling.  I've had a bit to drink and I'm curious to see how voicing some of my more controversial opinions will affect my karma.   :bye2:

I'm not sure Ammo is more expensive.   From what little I have seen, it's not. A box of 50 Remington/ UMC 9MM, back in 1990, was ~$11-$12.  It's that same ~$11 -$12 when I was looking a few weeks back.  Actually this surprised me when I saw it.  Not at all sure about other ammo, that may well be more expensive.

I know that the commie surplus military ammo is a lot pricier.  They cost of 7.62x39 has approximately doubled from 10 or so years ago, for example.

Reload!  I can reload my 9mm or 38/.357 for a fraction of the cost of new.  Need to get those .223 dies one day.
