yes i use choke and the choke works when its warm out. it doesnt seem to be a fuel problem. I know i shouldn't have but ive even turned it over while shooting ether in it. still no pop at pipe. runs perfect as long as its warm outside.

It appears that you think you have a electrical problem...not a carb problem. I think you have a carb problem.
1) Pull the tank and look at the carbs. Cycle the choke on and off.
Are all the choke actuators working on the carbs? Full range of motion? Are your carbs clean? Choke circuit clean?
2) On the cold days when the bike won't start, pull the spark plugs. Are the plugs wet or dry? Smell gas?

I don't know anything about FJ600 carbs, but the FJ carbs have a choke circuit fuel pickup orifice in the float bowl that is easily clogged.

When that happens the choke becomes worthless and the engine is very hard to keep running when it's cold.

hey thanks guys for the input, I will pull the carbs and clean them thoroughly!!!

check float levels etc. luckily i have a copy of the Yamaha service book for the model.

As well as check the operation of the choke circuits.

I'll let you know the outcome.

Thanks so much!!!!!
