fork dissasembly problem

So i took my forks off my bike and im trying to take them apart, i made my own damper tool and it works fine, problem is, when i use the tool and stick it down in the fork tube and the allen wrench in the bottom and start tuning, nothing comes loose, they both just turn in opposite directions and are not coming undone, what am i doing wrong?

take out the fork seal retaining clip and yank on the lower fork leg to separate from the upper.

if the allen is turning you probably are loose already. beware the locating pin in the bottom of the lower fork .

well i know that part, but the bolt wasnt coming lose from the bottom of the fork. we fou nd out though that the damper rod has to some how lock into the fork somehow using the dampering tool and then unscrew with allen wrench

I don't think that's your problem.  The small set screw on the back side of the bottom of each fork slider sticks into the slider and is just used to 'locate' (locate, not really lock into the fork) the damper rod so that the damping adjustments at the top of the damper will match each other after the damper is installed.  If your able to turn your damper rod tool and consequently your damper rod, I'm assuming that you have removed this screw, and that is fine.  If you can turn both the damper rod (with your tool) and the damper bolt at the bottom in opposite directions, they should come apart.  There's nothing else holding them together.

Question: Assuming that your fork is in an upright position, when you push up on the bottom bolt, does it move your damper up?  Or when you push down on the damper tool, does the bottom damper bolt move down?  I'm trying to guess if it's loosened up at all or if it's stripped.

Question: When you first turned the damper bolt, was there or is there now any resistance? Was it tight, and now it's loose?

Also, Is your damper rod tool like the one described in the files section of this forum?  27mm hex head?

we made the tool yes. we put the tool throught the top and the allen head socket it bottom, both turned in opposite directions but wouldnt come out, weird i know, we figured out that you have to i guess give both of them some serious pressure then it comes out, idk but thats how we got them apart
