My bike ('92) won't start except when it is in neutral.  It will not start when in any gear with the clutch pulled in.
Where should I look to fix this?

Thanks,

Bill.

clutch switch right under the clutch  master ... left hand handlebar  :good2:

should be two wires.... one has possibly become disconnected ?

if the switch is bad you can defeat the clutch switch by jumping the two wires together.

Yeah, clutch switch.  I replaced mine several years ago as one of the tangs on the original snapped off.  Took the FJ out for a 50 mile ride yesterday to run an errand and blow out some cobwebs.  She wouldn't start in gear, either, so I need to look at the switch and connector.

I really need to ride it more, I think the carbs are starting to show the neglect, even though I've got stuff in the tank.  Put some sea foam in the tank and went for a few more miles.  Maybe monday I'll fire her up again.

It was like slipping into old comfortable shoes.  The tires on her aren't what I usually had over the years, so I don't have the confidence in them I used to.

Wear your gear.

I may as well jump on the bandwagon, Clutch switch!

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

I get it!  The clutch switch.

However, this happened when I had the FJ clutch master cylinder on, and now with the FJR clutch master cylinder, the situation is the same.  Might check the wiring for continuity.

I need to find time for all of this - there is so much riding to be done.  If I don't ride my other bikes now and then, they all get jealous!
