Okay, so I contacted Superbrace about possibly putting the superbrace back into production. and... they'll do it!
If we can get a group buy of a minimum 25-30 people they'll make them for us.
They didn't mention a price but I would imagine about $150 since that's what it is for most other bikes.
I figure, with all the different FJ communities around the world we should be able to get 25 people on board for this.
Now I don't know anyone personally with an FJ but this board sure has been wonderful to me and I'm sure we can make this happen.
What say you? Let's make this happen.

below is a copy of my email to them;

Henry Iglesias,

We like to have 25-30 orders for a group buy. The good news is that we have already programmed the FJ1200 SuperBrace plus it also fits the FJ 1100. Can you make a post and see if there is any interest?

Hello, I am a Yamaha FJ1200 enthusiast. I realize you no longer make the superbrace for our model. However, there is quite a large customer base at this time hoping for a fork brace to come into the market for our motorcycles.

What kind of numbers for say, a group buy, would be required for you to produce a small run of these units?

I'm sure the ability to simply restart manufacturing FJ1200 braces would be very easy.

I can only imagine it was ceased due to low purchasing numbers.

Please let me know if anything would be possible.

Henry,
You have stole my thunder with the title...

I am working on fork braces this week and will be calling back to get final pricing in the morning. I sent them an example a couple of weeks ago and they contacted me late last week with my options.

I have opted to have them made in both clear and black anodized.

Plus, based on the initial conversations with my machine shop, I will be able to sell them for less that the listed price you received.

lol! wow, sorry Randy! I knew you were working on something but since i hadnt heard anything i wasnt sure if it was really going to happen. That thread in the "For Sale" section had a few different people trying to get something going.
I was bored at work and thought i would email superbrace, so i was surprised to actually get a response, so many companies these days don't really care.

What kind of timeline are you looking at? Do you have any CAD renderings of what it might look like?

racerrad8

I sent up all of the CAD drawings made and posted here, as well as two different brands for them to reverse engineer from.

I will be nailing down the details hopefully tomorrow and then it will be down to the point me ordering them and paying for them.

More to follow,

This is all kick ass news. I'm in for one. After all, it's her 25 birthday this year.

I have started the first order of fork braces this morning, he is going to get them worked into his schedule.

I will be selling these for $125.00.

What I need to know from the group is; What color option? I have a couple of weeks to let him know before they are sent out to be anodized. I am going to have them done in clear & black.

My question to you guys is, which one would you prefer? I want to make sure I get the color that will be most popular. Depending on the count I want to make sure I get the most popular color and have the other as an option for those who want an option.

If they start flying off the shelf then I will have both of them in stock, but for the first order, I want to be able to supply what everyone wants.

There is a poll added to this topic. Please take a moment to offer your choice so I can let them know when the time comes and get these in hand and available for spring.

I was gonna say it yesterday but got too busy. Seeing as how getting a group buy would be more difficult, then Randy's braces would be the way to go. Especially since you do so much for the FJ community already.

Randy, re: Poll for Brace Finish; when you say "clear" what do you mean? Do you mean polished with a clear coat, or just a clear coat over silver or....?
I assume the brace itself is not clear....HTH   Pat

Clear will be a clear anodizing over the machine finish; not polished.

To be clear, the anodizing is a hardened layer on the surface of the aluminum......2 color options, clear over silver, and black...

...is that clear?
