i have an 1985 fj1100N and i took apart the motor for an overhaul... one thing lead to another and i've created snowball effect of modifications

I need some direction on the motor end. I have a hard time spending so much on an overhaul when there are no performance benifits

i'm looking to up the ante in the piston department. I've heard that fj1200 pistons can fit but i'd like it to be the least labor intensive because i want to ride this beast come summer. I can pick up some new unopened oem 1200 pistons pretty cheap from a buddy, i just need to know what else is involved in the swap or if it's even worth it. thanks friends and cheers

The 77mm FJ1200 piston will just require getting the cylinders bored to fit.

Depending on the price, a higher compression aftermarket piston could give you a bunch more oomph, but it depends on where you draw the line between cost, performance, and reliability.

Wow, the drawings look sharp.  Not a FJ, but a very nice hybrid.  I can't wait to see the final product.  How much weight do you think you are going to save on this from stock?  If you knock off 100lbs, that'll be kick ass!!!

Cheers,

I'm shooting for a rip roaring bike (so i can be a hooligan) that can easily tour if need be, the FJ platform is very suiting for this. My ultimate goal is to strip all luxuries and get down to only necessities. Donor bikes are cbr900rr, cbr600 f4i, zx7r, ducati 1098, r1, and r6. This is my first complete motorcycle build.

about higher compression pistons, i know what it means in terms of a v8 motor but what "reliability" problems could you foresee?
also what kind of gain can i expect?

about jetting... any changes need to be made? i have a supertrapp setup and pods as well
thanks for your help guys
