Can anyone tell me why some of the Fj1200 motors have a stamp next to the VIN and some do not?

I wasn't sure what you meant for numbers, Mine must not have them  :scratch_one-s_head:

how about a pic to jog our memory?

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

maybe its a race rep?  ... chukles....limited edition? oo oo i know .....one that cant be mod'ed in any way.... has a built in antimodification device.... chuckles.... i dunno i ll have a look and seee if mine has one.... pretty sure i just got numbers but

The stamp I am talking about is a tunning fork stamp, I will post a pic in the morning.  I just bought an 86 of a Legends guys and he was asking if I knew what it was or why it was there.  Not all motors have one so I was aksing if you guys knew, didnt know a simple question would bring out a jackazz lol funny huh!!!!

My '91 has that logo.....maybe its a generation thing?

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.
Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.

ok i checked my 86 ... it has it too, probably just a casting mark. I know that some species of old kawasakis have a different stamp/mark to designate it was a Special ENGINE, as do (apparently) some variants of vintage ducati's. apologies for having a dig, guess you have to be a "hero member" or in the "in" crowd to have a sense of humour.

courtsdaddy

No big deal, I took it the wrong way.  I just thought maybe you guys knew what it was, funny that no one really knows!

jack02

My '89 has the tuning fork stamp! I always thought it came as standard.....

Kopfjaeger

ahhh crap. sorry courtsdaddy...I'm flying off the handle all the time lately. i do apologise i am being a dick. i would imagine its just a forging mark from the foundry. if you ll excuse me im going to smack myself round the head a bit and stop being a nob! :dash2: :dash2: can i just add i HATE lawyers the legal system and all the stress that comes from helping someone and putting up with aggro from all sides.Normal service will resume in probably 6 months......

ahh the tuning forks, Yep I have them on my bike. Could it be the XJR motors didn't get that?

My '91- yes tuning forks, no YaMAMA!

Dave, what prompts the question?

I recall the first 100 1984 FJ1100's had factory blueprinted motors, so a motor# below 47M-000100 is a collectable.
