I have a vance and hines 4 into 1 and it willnot let you change oil without removing the entire sys.  My question is does anybody have a lead on another type of 4 into 1system that is still available?

Cheaper and easier to modify the oil pan to relocate the drain plug.

If you can find a D&D system, that'll work. I understand that they stopped making them for our FJ's.
I have a Kerker 4-1 system on my '92 and I drain my oil by removing the left side oil cooler line (at the pan) while the bike is on the side stand. Works well, but still a kind of a mess..

simply drain the oil by removing the L side oil cooler line  :ireful: :dash2:  might want to have a couple spare orings to replace when they get old and not round anymore

this is what it looks like from the inside out

Remus makes a full stainless system that doesn't obscure the drain plug.  Problem is, the only place to get one is from the FJ UK club.  With the current exchange rate its about $750, and that doesn't include shipping.  Shipping will be a nightmare (I paid $100 in shipping for a baglux tank cover and bag, plus a customs fee of $20) and there will be customs fee of quite a lot.  Also in the negative column is the possibility of the Remus causing you a hit in power vs the V&H (I have the V&H as well).  A shop I go to locally (Sun Cycle in Manasquan, NJ) mentioned a customer who put a Remus on their FZ1 and they lost enough power that they sold it and put an Akrapovitch on.

You can also get an Akrapovitch system for FJs from the UK (which also doesn't obscure the oil plug), and you'll see tremendous power increases and it weighs next to nothing. but it costs over $1500.

Currently I'm looking for a D&D system to replace my V&H, but they're pretty scarce.  You can loosen up the header bolts on your V&H and move the exhaust over enough to access the drain plug.  Its a pain in the ass, but it's less messy than the oil cooler hose trick.  Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Dennis

I was looking around tonight and it looks like D&D exhausts are still available for later fj1200s and they fit early FJs with zero modifications.  My friend who has an Suzuki RF900 has one on his and its got a nice sound, and actually not much louder than my V&H.

Trust me on this, it appears they are available, but when you try to order one, they are not in stock. I tried every last North American source and came up empty. I even called D&D directly and got the word straight from the horse's mouth: NO MORE FJ1200 EXHAUSTS.

Good luck finding one.

Well that sucks.  I think its ridiculous on so many levels that there are more than a few stores online saying that they have them in stock.  There'd be some hell to pay if I paid for one of these, supposedly in stock and then the shop comes back with "umm right, that's not in stock."

I got one of these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/XJR1200-XJR1300-XJR-1200-1300-EXHAUST-CONVERSION-KIT-/150542027299?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item230d010a23

It's listed as being for the XJR series but I took a chance and it went straight onto my '89 FJ no messing, apart from  very slight tweaking of the supplied hanging bracket and spacers. Looks great, sounds great, runs great. Oil pan access, mainstand retained,no fiddling with jets and filters etc. From the UK but price is very keen and the guy ships all over inc Oz. Don't know how it would work out money-wise. Worth a look?

Tell me about it. I did that already... twice! Held up over $800 of my money in PayPal limbo for almost a week.

I have the Yosh system on mine and I am very happy with it.It's quiet up to about 5k and then it starts sounding sweet.
But to keep on the subject,it still blocks the oil drain.
