XJR wouldn't sell for crap in the US, shame really.

Love the matching yellow caps on the carbs, but you really need a yellow spring on that shock.  Should be a pretty cool looking machine when you're done!

Tried to get it with a yellow spring but the guy at the shop just looked at me a little strange  :crazy:

I would of thought that you guy's would know about this so apologies if I am going over old ground here.

The peg hangers on the old girl were looking very bad and I just don't / didn't have the time to clean them up:



A friend of mine pointed me in the direction of a company that does "Areomax" coating
Looked good so thought I would give it a try and see what they looked like.
This is how they came back to me:




Looks like chrome but its a powder coating  :good2:

They look great on the FJ and once she is out of the shed I will take some better pictures  :good:

Looks Good! That'll be a nice detail.  Definitely post some pictures up for us when it's all done.

Was going to change the 1st post but unable to  :nea:

So though you might like to see more info on the old girl  :sorry:

On the Sat morning I decided that it was time to do a few repairs to the old girl as she was looking very tired and worn:



I got a bit carried away with the strip down and by 4pm....................







Piles of parts all over the place as well, but soon had everything boxed and put away.

One of the major issues I had was the main support bolt that runs right across the front of the engine.



The ally bush was badly corroded and stuck solid



After getting the engine out of the frame and into the shed onto the bench I started to work on trying to get it out

1st of all cutting the bolt and sleeve  :cray:



The metal sleeve was rusted solid to the bolt



Then the ally bush had to come out



Stitch drilling all the way around the remainder of the bolt



took just over 3 hours but she came out  :good2:




All that was left



After some searching I got hold of a brand new bush

The engine was running great so I couldn't see the point in stripping her down, a very good clean and paint was all that was needed.







The frame was next  :unknown:





Taken off to a friend who blasted and powder coated the whole lot Gloss Black  :good2:






I am also changing over the wheels for a GSXR Rear & A Genesis Front

Carbs were next for a bit of TLC




After a soda blasting and strip/clean/rebuild




Had some yellow paint so thought why not  :biggrin:



The discs got the same treatment

After talking with a few people, I decided to go for the Barnett conversion:



The main suspension joint had a total rebuild as all of the needle bearings where solid  :cray:



The forks have been a total rebuild with brand new fork tubes and all of the internals as well




Things went fairly well from there and we got the engine back in the frame and fitted new Headers, Collection box & 10 Row oil cooler




Handle Bars went back on with ZZR Master Clutch & Brake


Swing Arm, shock etc all fitted



Front wheel in along with Blue Spot Callipers and new S/Steel hoses (Yellow of course  :good: )



Wiring loom is going in now along with the back wheel, I am just waiting on the Rear Calliper Carrier to arrive.
The fairing is on its way (approx 7 to 10 days) then all the plastics go off for painting
The design has changed slightly from the picture I posted before, looks a little better IMHO

Sorry the photo's are not that good, the rebuild is being done in a fairly small shed at the bottom of my Garden (No Garage)  :negative:
But she is getting there:

WOW. That is a lot of work! It looks like they get run in the salt in the UK? Keep up the amazing work...

Yes, they dump salt on the roads over here by the truck load as soon as it starts getting cold  :shok:
Once complete she should last a few more years before the next rebuild  :drinks:

Oil Filter
Clutch slave
Front Sprocket cover
Chain
Chain Guard
Rear Under Tray all now fitted


Both exhausts fitted as well



She's getting there  :smile:
Looks more like a bike now

Where is that chain guard from? Is nice!
