Steve, I think you're going to find that a 120/70 requires a 3.5" rim, regardless of whether radial or bias ply tire.  Is there a taller 110 width, i.e. a 110/80x17?  I'd fear that a 110/70 would be a tad short. possibly causing ground clearance and/or stability issues.

FWIW, I have a 120/70 on a 3.5" wheel, and it feels Grrrrrrrrreat!

thanks Mark, I don't have issue with the setup other than like you said in the latter part of your message that with the right size rim the tire was so much better.  Do you think the 110-70-17 would be better for a 3 inch rim?   The profile just looks wrong with the 120 radial on the 3 inch rim -- the chicken strips will never come off unless I start scraping forks and riding on my sides.

I recall somebody in the group running the 110/70/17 on the 3" rim and liking it. so you can go with that if you want to.

I ran the 120 on the 3" and then later put the same tire on the 3.5, so feel free to run the 120 on the 3" then change later when you find a 3.5 wheel.

that way you only have to buy 1 tire and won't have commitment issues.  :good:

Just remember with the 110/70 the speedo will be farther off than with the 120/70. A little birdy from the other side informend me on that.
