Thanks everyone...so an update.  I drove 150km/s to take a look at the 1992 no ABS, it was a show stopper for me.  Only had 3 owners since '92 - Ran really well, shifted fine, may need a clutch but we'll see: 92,765 km/s, Corbin, R6 blue-dot (stock master), givi top box with light, givi windshield and stock one, givi handlebar warmers, good Metzler's front and rear, original tool kit, 2 keys, Clymer.  All for $1800 as is - he was asking $2500 so I just simply asked his bottom line, yup ok that's fair.  Was maintained by a local Yamaha dealer that even had the good heart to charge him $900 for a carb clean two years ago...

...But wait there's more!! This doesn't usually happen to me but I feel like I was in the right place for sure here...He threw in a really nice less than one year old Shoei hemet, jacket, pants and sets of gloves!  I paused and asked him what's the catch here, is there something you're not telling me about the bike?  Nope just done with riding and moving on to the other things and you seem like the right person for all of this.  Yup okay, here's $200 until I return to pick it up next week.  Seems a bit good to be true but hey makes me feel good that I landed so there.

I'll post some pics after I pick it up. So far just looks like a v/c gasket and a really good cleaning from sitting for 2 years in heated storage.

...Thought I would start a new thread for an update.  Finally got the '92 home - damn cold pick up but no problems. 
Runs really well considering some maintenance neglect

To do list - right away:

> Change Oil & Filter
> Valve cover gasket and all shoulder bolt gaskets
> Diagnose clutch issue, most likely slave or clutch plates sticking from sitting for 2 years in storage
> Fresh fuel, fuel filter, plugs
> Clean carbs, sync
> Cleaning, etc, etc, etc.

Nice catch! Looks like you timed it right in that deal! Is the plan to keep the 1100, too?
Yup, you have the sickness, and you can look for 'help' for it here as much as you want..... keep us posted on how it goes , or if you land another one! .  I keep telling myself that spring is on it's way 'sooner than you think'.  I still end up in a rush in February - March to get the winter projects done....and I got lots to do.

The FJ is quite the bike eh. Good looks, comfortable, easy to work on/maintain, and has alot of snot under the hood!

Hey Paul!  I'm probably selling the '84 as I'm now hooked on the newer generation but damn that '84 is a lot of fun around town and only has 58km/s on it so we'll see.  A couple of people have shown interest in it after I reconditioned it, but again hard to part with as it's the legend that started all the madness!

This site has inspired me and saved me lots of time and money, just have to find a better balance of house and garage time as my better half thinks I've lost my mind...
We should plan a ride in the spring after we get the winter projects taken care of...

You've got the sickness!!!  "I'm probably selling the '84..." I've said that before...didnt work. yep.  "...balance of house and garage time..." yep. "... my better half thinks I've lost my mind...." yep.  -Face it, Tom, its not gonna happen!   You know you'll regret it too much!!! It is a medical condition, you know and you're not alone. .  What you do is keep telling yourself that while letting the time pass (in the garage working), and eventually the perfect excuse for keeping it comes to mind, and then everything falls into place .  I would hate to have to find another one in as good shape as that '84 in the future if you changed your mind. 

Right now I have my 85 stripped and I hope to have it done by the spring. It will be touch-and-go....

Yes, we should take a spin in the spring...maybe catch some of those roads up by Calabogie to the Addington Highlands... who knows.
