Bad news looming... it appears that D&D has discontinued their system for the FJ1200. I'm waiting to hear back from someone today, but it's the third attempt and so far it doesn't look good. The Vance & Hines system may soon be the only option for aftermarket.

Not really bad news for us living in Maine, as the state just passed a new law that requires the factory exhaust on all motorcycles.
starting in 2012 we will have to display a sticker (not sure where) that states the bike has the factory exhaust installed.

Now that's bad news.

That does suck. Can't grandfather it in either, I bet.

Also, it has been confirmed. No more D&D exhausts for the FJ.  :negative: :negative: :negative:

That does suck. I've seen an increase in the safety factor when my bike is louder. My feeling is if drivers can't see us, they might as well hear us.

Washington state has a similar law that states that an aftermarket exhaust cannot be louder than stock exhaust. I got questioned by a Highway Patrol officer on that one and had to do some research.

We have a place here that is called "the Factory"......... its an old butter factory....... If I take my bike down there and put an exhaust on it, maybe I can claim that it's the factory installed exhaust.
:wacko2:
Maybe I can get the local sticker man to make up a batch of "This exhaust system is Factory installed" stickers.

I might be able to sell these stickers for a profit?  :good2:

so what are out exhaust options? i cant seem to find anything anywhere. grafting on an aftermarket muffler is one thing, but what about a full exhaust with headers and all?

even when i find a vance and hines its always up to '86 or '87 and i have a '90.

I've had a Tranzac header system coupled to a Micron slip-on can on my '91 now for almost 5 years, and while its not the best looking system around (un-chromed mild steel pipes), it does a good job and allows oil drain access.
Tranzac are now making SS systems for modern bikes and I will contact them next week to see if they will make up SS FJ systems.

They are located just out of Brisbane here in Australia.......... maybe if there is enough interest, and if they will do a system for me, we can do some sort of a group buy deal with them..........

I will post further on this some time next week.
