I've got to say Bill I'm fairly certain I just kept the original FJ rear master cylinder and connected the suzuki brake line to that. I'll have to check now. :wacko3:

I did the same, Ray, just wondering if Craig tried it with the Suzi one.

My rear brakes are a bit different, being top mounted.  I got the brake gear from a Katana.

Hey Bill,

Is the wheel from a Katana?  Did you have to spacer it in there as well?   Did you use the FJ's brake arm or the Suzuki's?  How about the brake line, FJ or Katana?   :scratch_one-s_head:

Cheers,

Craig,

The caliper and torque arm are from a Katana.  Wheel, caliper bracket, spacers from GSXR750/1100.  Brake line is a SS one made for the original Yamaha rear brake, with one end modified to allow for the different angle of the point at which it attaches to the caliper.  I used Suzi spacers either side of the wheel, as well as an extra washer each side.

I cut the Suzi torque arm shorter, drilled it, and attached it to the OEM torque arm point on the swingarm.

At various spot in his thread:

are part numbers I used, and a brief outline.

Bill.

Sold it!

i am converting mine soon (as soon as it gets a bit warmer outside!) and have the wheels and brakes from both gsxr and katana (gsxf, over here) and the using the katana brakes seems alot easier, have mocked them both up in spare swingarm and with the katana one i can use standard torque arm mount and the s/steel hose that is already one it, so thats the way i am going to do it.

OK, as promised, here is the GSXR wheel mod instruction manual.  Keep in mind that this is using a 1990 GSXR wheel installed on a 1990 FJ1200.  I also have this in PDF format.  Need a copy, PM me and I'll send it off to you

I want to thank everyone that provided information to make this manual possible.  To many to mention, but you know who you are.  :hi:

Thanks,

Just to be clear , isn't the gsxr wheel a 17" x 5" wheel not a 5.5" and can only take a 170?

There's more than one GSXR wheel.

I hate to be the etiquette police, but is it really necessary to re-quote the entire post for a single line response?  Try a simple reply.

David, is the fact that you didn't delete the long file yourself Irony or Sarcasm?

SlowOldGuy

Scarcasm, I thought it would be obvious.
Just trying to make an example.
Kind of like trying to get my wife and kids to turn out unnecessary lights around the house.

To answer the question, I used a 1990 GSXR wheel.  In 1990, the GSXR came with a 5.5" wheel that can hold a 80/55-17 tire.

Hope this helps,

Does it work with them?  Have they started turning off the lights?  :nea:
