I have got the parts for a wreckers at a good price

I am a bit worried that there may be some little pieces of metal floating around inside engine for the smashed cover is there anything i can do besides oil and filter change

I disassembled the brake calipers and there was some jammed pistons, the piston dust seals were clogged up bad, but when reassembling i seemed to be braking the dust seals is this
just because there old or am i doing something wrong.
