Man accused again of dumping oil on highway  :bomb:
March 14, 2009 - 9:21am

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - Maryland State police have charged a man with dumping a hazardous material on a highway in Rockville.

Thirty-four-year-old Jonathan Crane of Rockville has also been charged with first-degree assault and reckless endangerment. He was arrested on Friday.

Troopers say they found Crane walking on a ramp from northbound Interstate 270 to Montrose Road. Officials say Crane was carrying a container with chain oil. Troopers also found another container with chain oil farther down the ramp.

Authorities say Crane was arrested on October by Montgomery County police in a similar incident on the same ramp that resulted in several motor vehicle collisions.

story time, gather round the campfire :drinks:
way back in the late 70's I lived at a house on the corner of a 4 way stop. across the street was an empty field great for dirt bikes but that is a different story. now just about everybody that drove around my neighborhood would run the stop sign which made it very difficult to back out of the driveway and not get hit. several close calls and it was only a matter of time before some one was gonna get t-boned. on one particular evening it was lightly raining and I had just changed the oil on my car I had a Idea  :good:. I poured about 2 or 3 quarts on the corner appex  pulled out the lawn chairs and my brother and I watched the show. the drivers who stopped at the stop sign had no problem but the ones who ran the stop would slip and fishtail just enough to slow them down to drive more carefully in the rain. over a 2 hr period only 2 cars did the full 360 and ended up in the empty field. NO motorcycles were damaged. well the fun came to a end when a police car showed up and the officer wanted to know what was going on. it appeared somebody had narked us out. before we could say anything somebody ran the stop sign and he took off after them. the cop came back and caught 4 more violators before calling it a night , he requested that the corner be cleaned and not to do it again.

for years after that drivers in my neighborhood would always stop correctly at the corner just in case I was at it again.

I agree the idiot putting oil on the ramps is a nut, It just reminded me of a childish prank.

I used synthetic oil (amsoil)

Well, not from me!  I know Amsoil makes a lubricant for almost everything, but  I didn't know that included asphalt!
