" That is good news, as it is an 18 hour, 1100 mile trip for me just to get out there, and I want to make sure it's going to happen so plans can be put into place!
Thanks, Leon

Hell, thats not too bad on an FJ.. Only 1823.46 miles one way for me, I will be enjoying a few days at the rally and then Lee and me are thinking about heading out to southern Utah, Arizona and New Mexico for a few days. Woooo hoooo another adventure......

Yeah, but unless there's a group headed that way, I'm trailering to Denver... I've done my solo trip across Kansas      :boredom:

I see it's been a little over a month since we had any discussion on this topic and I wanted to hear from you guys as far as plans, ideas, routes to Colorado, month to hold it in and how many days of actual "Rally" time I'm going to have to plan on.

I'd would benefit me if we planned this to take place mostly on a weekend, as its going to kill nearly 2 days just getting out there, and then 2 more getting back.
Are rallys usually a 2 day ride, with the over-nighter in between, or longer?

I have two, possibly 3 other riders that would like to make the trip with me and planning vacation is going to be our biggest problem to over come.

Thanks,
Leon

Well, lessee... with the ECSR in May, the WCFJR in June (IIRC), and the ECFR in September (is there gonna be a 2011 NEFJR?), it seems like mid-July to mid-August would be most ideal, but that's just me.  That's probably the best weather time for the High Country, though.

There is a fun little shortcut from Debeque (I70) to the road that goes over the Grand Mesa. Lots of elevation changes, blind curves, few coppers.  Short but sweet.  Makes me want the  17" sticky wheel/tire mod pretty bad.

With all the discussion it appears there is no set date or place yet, somebody who lives in Colorado needs to take the reins and nail this one down so travel plans can be made and time off can be planned.

I am seriously considering riding to the rally and then spend some time exploring more of the west. Dates would be nice.. I looked at the KOA in Gunnison in Colorado, cant get any pricing yet and they are ok, but it might be nice to look at other options in the area as well. Anyone know of any better options??

Yes please!
I am saving for the trip over and figure a Colorado rally would be the best bet to be able to meet up with all you folk from both East and West coasts.

Hopefully, it won't end up being too close to either of the East Coast rallies, so I can do all three.

What time of year is best for most? Personally I have a better chance to be there mid or late August, since I'm trying to add on some addition rides out west.. Who wants to pick up the ball on this Rally??  I'd be willing to help with what I can do online from the east coast..

I agree, and hope the dates don't overlap the other rally dates already set.

Was there going to be any interest from a veteran to get this one off the ground?
I wouldn't have the first idea as to how to proceed.
My hope is that it will pull a good number of riders from both coasts.

What are peoples thoughts on the 11-14th of Aug, 2011?
If I figured right, that's a Thursday through Sunday dates.

That should leave enough time between the other Rally dates as to open up possibilities for people to attend more than one Rally this year.

Just trying to stimulate some ideas here, what do you say?
Is this a possibility?
