Have you ever had a bike, car, truck or other type of machine you saw as a child and knew one day you'd have to own?

I still remember the magazine ad that imprinted the FJ in my brain for my life: it's a multi-page ad, the first two pages are a large pic of a Yamaha Venture touring bike, with one word; TOUR, written above it.

Turn the page and there's the FJ1200, a guy and girl in riding leathers, look cool and hanging on this beast of a bike. The phrase TOUR DE FORCE written above it.... I saw that and the lifelong lust began.

My dad rode, a Suzuki guy himself, I knew I'd ride one day too. I'd sat on the FJ's when I'd seen them in the shops, but still haven't ridden one.

I've been riding the streets since 1989, having owned several bikes. Admittedly, I'm a Triumph guy, currently owning 3 in the garage. I sold the Harley and decided I'm going to fulfill my childhood fantasy of owning an FJ1200.

I've found an '86 with a mere 10,500 miles on it I'm picking up Firday evening, making me a newer member of the owners group. It's a good feeling!

I'll post pics when I get it home and cleaned up. First, a 1000 mile intrductory ride from CT, to SC, down the East Coast!

I'm looking forward to getting to know the folks here!

Yeah, I'd have to agree.  If you can't find a good condition '85, then settling for an '86 would be the next best thing.

Welcome Tom,

Sounds like a great bike you found there, I'm sure you will enjoy it.  Been riding mine to work almost everyday... the sucker really flys... these really are great bikes! Lets see some pictures...
