New issue for an old bike

I am in a bit of a dilemma...

In Arizona, there is a historical M/C license plate available for bikes 25 years and older.   It is a straight up copper plate, none too flashy so it could be a badge of honor and a cool factor...    On the other hand, it is my non-summer daily driver and not some antique or trailer queen.   ( Maybe the occasional tow rope...    )  I'm not too interested in tipping my hand to the squidlies and latest grads of the Academy.

So anyway,  I could argue both sides of the discussion, but am I missing something to throw the decision either way??   What Would Paddy Do?

My bet is Squidley & recent Acadamy grads won't know what you've got.  The squids won't care, and the cops may stop you for a phony license plate!

Looks like AZ (like IN and many other states) have so many different types of plates that something a bit different doesn't really stand out so much anymore.

I'd get it.  It's a good looking plate and a testament to the timeless design of the FJ. (it sure would match the '89 midnight blue/silver and gold color scheme)

I'd be eligible for one in 4 years--maybe if we get enough FJ's registered as antiques, we can lobby and get some kind of AARP /FJ benefits.  Maybe reduced prices at restaurants when at the rallies?...cut rates on motorcycle insurance??...

I think Henry has been working on that for a few years now.

Get the plate Erich!
I would if I was eligible.........and the tow-rope doesn't really count, cause it was only for about a mile and a half   :sarcastic:

Erich, do you like the copper color? I dunno, it kind of looks like rust to me.....Might blend well in with your bike.

What Paddy would consider is the recurring annual costs of this "special" plate. As I recently found out, in Calif. they want a *additional* $45.00 per year to have a personalized m/c plate. This insult is on top of the outrageous yearly registration fees Calif. already charges, IIRC the highest in the nation.

If the cost of this plate in Arizona is just a one time charge, no big deal.....but if your state wants to nick you, year after year for a added cost...It's your money. Personally, I would save my money and spend it on some Simichrome, but I know that you, Erich me lad, would never worry about that...

Cheers amigo!

See if they have "Pigpen" available.

Mind you, it is kinda cool in a Ratbike Feral sort of way.

I keep my bike in that daily rider kind of patina so that Paddy doesn't make the same mistake again like he did up in Silverton, CO.   After lunch when I met up with the group, he tried to ride off on my bike!    Now when I go to rallies and park next to his bike, mine picks up the glinting sunlight reflected from his suspension.   It also gets him the extra compliments since they get an in person 'before and after' effect.

We only get 5 letters on personalized AZ M/C plates...  pigpn  or pgpen?   neither really capture the idea adequately...

Go with "Feral"
That would be good.

First time I saw Handicap plates on a Motorcycle was at carpark at the Grand Canyon.
Fluffy and I both thought it was someone taking the piss.
