The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

'86 Ambulance - Bent frame, cracked case, due for an overhaul
'89 Stormy Blue - Suits my Dark Side

Sparky84

I tried LED but they didn't seem to work that well with the indicators in the dash but swapped all others and maybe it was the ones I bought but they didn't even last 2 days of riding.
Swapped all back to 3.4W standard ones.

I don't have a "How to", but it's easy enough to do - remove the horn and then you get easy access to the headlight rubber cover, remove the connector, the cover and unclip and pull out the headlight bulb. Pop in the new one and reverse the steps you've just taken.

The Stop/Tail-light bulbs are just as simple - remove the seat, take out the tool pouch, pull down the cover behind where the pouch was to get to the bulb holders, twist anti-clockwise and pull out, replace the bulbs and then put everything back in the reverse order again.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, just realised its the dashboard lights you're asking about - but again, fairly straightforward.

Remove the screen, air scoops, choke knob, lower infill panels and instrument surround. Undo all of the fairing screws and the two bolts either side of the headlight, remove the fairing and then you have access to back of the instruments to change the bulbs. If there's anything you can't get to, just disconnect the instrument cluster wiring and pop it off. All very straightforward, if a bit time-consuming at first.

Once you understand the sequence for undoing all of the screws/bolts and removing the pieces, the fairing comes off in about 15 mins and goes back on in about 20.
