I'm looking, and I found

Hello all, I bought a FJ1100 in 1985 because Peewee Gleason went 10.49 in a quarter mile on one and it handled pretty well compared to the GS1100 that I was looking at then. I have been riding since 1975 and have had 100 or more bikes in that time. I decided that I would look for a FJ just for fun and found a sweet 1993 in excellent shape with 27000 miles on it. I currently have a 1200 Bandit and a Honda Hawk GT650 and a Moto Guzzi SPII and just sold my 2003 Moto Guzzi Lemans V11... I'm well rounded in the bike world. I was gonna buy a ZX12r like my old one but the fact that my reaction times are not what they were when I had it made me decide not to. Anyway it looks like this page is active and supports the bike still.. Nice to see. This is a pic of my FJ on a long ride.

Welcome home. We've heard that before, folks who have owned FJ's and sold them only to return to them years later....or lamenting that they should have never sold them to begin with....

Congrats of finding your FJ. The Gen 4's with the rubber engine mounts are great FJ's.

Cheers

Love it - and doing what FJ's should do...... covering miles on long journeys.

I missed the start of this years riding season due to recovery from cancer surgery last October, but since April I've put 9,000 miles on my 89 FJ1200, lots of them in 200-300 mile days (longest days ride this year has been 540 miles, and both myself and the bike were good for another 350 mile ride the following day.

I think that's why I've kept my FJ for 36 years and over 100,000 miles, despite having loads of newer and supposedly "better" bikes over that period, that have come and gone - I do still have the 2001 Yamaha FZ1 that is my second favourite bike to ride, and while I thought when I bought it, that it was a modern update on the FJ, even though I love it, when it comes to walking in garage to get a bike out for a ride, my heart (and ass) almost always points me to the FJ.
