Last couple of questions:

Did you use Ivan's jet kit or Mikuni jets...or a combo?

Where did you get the vacuum from...gotta be the intake manifold some where...

I'll have to finally get off my ass and convert my gravity fed 84 over to a fuel pump.

Cheers

Pat

I couldn't buy the Ivan's kit in Australia, so what I did was increase the hole at the bottom of the slide to 3mm? (I think standard is 2.7mm) I looked at kit photos and did estimates. There is a small hole on the butterfly side that is increased (I bought a miniature drill kit and again estimated the increase but there was a procedure for Ivan's somewhere that explained this size and how to do it without F@#@#ing up.
The slider spring I left standard (they supply a different spring with Ivan's).

See "Fazer owners club" on line they have an excellent on exactly how to modify the carbies - https://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/jetkitinstallation.html

I bought jets from Mikuni supplier, The vacuum tubes just go to a filter (breather from parts store) and they only go the outside air, the vacuum to lift the slides is in the carby itself, the change in pressure lifts the slide which is why these hoses need good air flow. as the slide lifts the air is pushed out through the tubes. Might be hard to grasp but just imagine pressure flow when the butterfly is open and the pressure difference to the outside air causes the slide to lift.

I'll try to follow what you do and if you have questions let me know. I also noticed the Ivan's procedure shows them cutting the slide spring, up to you if you cut the response will be quicker so it might be worth while. The reason they have this kit is that the FZ1 fueling was restricted - apparently. On my bike these mods work well, I hope it will on yours.

Its not the increase in revs (some increase) but my goal was flat strong power which I achieved.
