In case any of were wondering. Barnett conversion, gold springs, FJR 14mm master = 19.2lbs max measured center of the lever.

I like numbers.

Cheers.

What year FJR master did you use?

captaudi

The eBay auction listed it as 2006-2012. It is a 14 mm master.

Mike,

I'm not sure if you remember me. You loaned me your shim kit about 15 years ago, I lived in Shrewsbury at the time. You basement was like a candy store devoted to CB750 heads. Is Dana Johnson still doing heads? I am hoping to do the FJ motor next winter and he would have been my first choice for the valve/guide work.

Hope you are doing well.

Daniel....I do remember that now that you mention it.That's funny. I now live in New Hampshire in the Lakes Region (Moultonborough). ...just north of Weirs Beach. Yeah...I still have and do a lot of CB750 heads. My last big project was rebuilding the engines for the RC Engineering Triple dragster. Actually I didn't rebuild them I had to reengineer them starting with 3 fresh engines. God the original engines were terrible.
Dana finished his house in Maine but I'm not sure if he is doing work there. I don't think he sold the house in Hopkinson where all the machines were. If you need guide and valve work....and maybe a sprinkle of porting.....I can certainly help you out.
Thanks for the FJR master info. I was going to go with the 14mm pee cup but I like the stock looking unit and there are no clearance issues.

Mike,

Congrats on the move. Where did Dana build a house? I am in Harpswell ME about 20 minutes further up the coast from Freeport. The only thing I have not yet sorted on the master swap is the clutch switch, the FJ is a 2 pin the FJR is 3 and it does not swap over. So you can't start the bike in gear. Looks like Yamaha does not service the pin housing separately for the FJR, I was hoping to swap my pins into a FJR housing. I can tell you the setup I have is sweet to ride in traffic, with your motor you might need to swap for heavier springs or do the 3 and 3 trick, thats what I did in my RZ421.
