Hi All with apologies if my question has been covered...I am installing a Dynatek 2000 ignition and as well the 3 ohm ( DC 1-1 green) coils...which have bodies that are ~ 3/8" longer than the stock coils...I cannot get the coils to seat as they hit the frame boss that the coil retaining bolt passes through...has anyone else had to deal with this issue? Thanks for any help!

Yes, I have Dyna 3 ohm greens in my '84 I installed 15 years ago. At that time we had a member of our forum named Jon Cain who is an excellent machinist. Jon made some custom brackets that allowed the larger Dyna coils to be mounted in the FJ frame. Alas Jon is retired and no longer frequents this form but he is on Face Book. You may want to look him up and see what he has....

Another forum old timer is a bloke named David Raforth (aka SlowOldGuy) I recall Dave also installed some Dyna coils in his FJ and he made them fit but needed some special insulation tricks to keep the coil terminals from grounding out on the FJ frame.
David is also on Facebook and is a wonderful resource. He is our original FJ Forum carb guru.
If you contact these two gents, please say hello for me. They have unselfishly helped me and others thru the years.

Last but not least we have Colorado Chris who is currently on our forum (aka fj1289) who took his FJ to 198.2 mph in the standing mile. Chris also races the 1/4 and is well in the 9's.  I know he has some hot coils on his race bike (along with nitros and fuel injection)  Perhaps he will chime in....

Hope this helps

Thanks Pat, you are a wonderful resource, and I very much appreciate your thoughts! I woke up this morning thinking about how to make the darned things fit, by fabbing a bracket..just have to make sure it won't get in the way of something else! Best wishes, Ben
