Hey all!

Just wanted to get a writeup going on how to tackle this project.

Here's what I've acquired so far:

Yamaha FZR1000 3GM-23340-50-00 UNDER BRACKET

Yamaha FZR1000 3GM-W2341-50-00 Top Triple Tree Steering Crown Handle

Yamaha FZR1000 FRONT WHEEL SHOCK ABSORBER FORKS PAIR

Yamaha FZR1000 Front Wheel (comes with rotors)

I've also picked up some gold dots from an 03 R1 with the drug test kit to match!

What I need to acquire:

Front Axle Bolt

Wheel Bearings

Hardware for Triple Tree

Handle Bars

My question is what hardware do I need for the triple tree? Do I just run the stock setup or something different?

I found that by using the risers and handlebars from a 2001-2005 Yamaha FZ1, I could get exactly the same hand position as i had with my standard FJ triple tree and bars. Just drill the top triple tree to take the FZ1 riser bolts (I think they're M10 from memory).

The part Dean didn't mention - by keeping hand position similar, it also keeps the bars from hitting the fairing!  DAMHIK ...

Yep, you're right Chris, that was a key part of my choice too  :good2:

The tube bars just look to dirt bike ish to me. The first 2 sets of gixxer forks. I cut the clamps off the gixxer clip ons. And hand fabricated the risers and bars out of aluminum. To match the original fj bars. The last set I just used the adjustable clip ons. Like Fred used. Apex brand they work great. They sell individual parts. If you crash. I Will probably use them again on the turbo bike if I ever get back to it.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an axle? It seems like my only option for the 92 1000 is a German one that is going to run about 250 bucks. Any help would be appreciated

Is that German 92 FZR1000 the EXUP RU or the standard conventional forked model?
They are different. The part number for the one you want is 1HX2538101 and they are like the proverbial rocking horse **** now. I sourced mine from Italy in the end. There's nothing on CMSNL anymore.
If i remember there is a member of the UK Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/494216294033257 who has an engineering workshop who might be able to make you one but it would probably be cheaper for you to source one closer to home.

I've found this one on ebay Italy https://www.ebay.de/itm/165053039785?msockid=0f07b24526d86cf234fda44127386d68
Postage would probably be more than the value of the item. It is the right part number.

JohnnyTheCraneGuy

Yikes! They don't ship that to the US :/

The one I was looking at seems to be a replica that's produced in Germany. They want 95 Euro but then another 95 for shipping. I sent them a message to see if that's an error but I haven't received a reply back yet.

Honestly Pat, or anyone who knows, what are the dimensions for that bolt and would someone be able to send/post pics of the bolt with calipers on them in the respective places to get a good machine on.

I know it wouldn't be shit to just lathe one at home but I can't find the info I need..

I'm in Germany, on a bike touring holiday with my FJ at the moment, but will be home on Thursday.

I could pop the wheel out at the weekend and measure it if you need me to?
