Dave Dunlop / Fast By Me turbo's, very enjoyable to watch his builds.

He does them all, like this draw through system.

I'm leaning towards a blow through system mainly because I'd like the turbo out in the wind.

I agree with you on preferring a blow thru system, keep the snail down low in front of the engine...especially if you added (fj1289)  Chris's fuel injection system to the mix.
I wouldn't want that red hot turbo shell anywhere close to the tank and seat.

Dan McCoy (aka giantkiller)  is working on his draw thru  FJ turbo project.

Here's a cool Yamaha 750 blow thru system, but I'm not sure on the big ass intercooler.

If I ever get back to it. Hope to get somewhere around 220hp. Way it's set right now should be 200hp. On pump gas. I also have the smart car/sled motor. Smart should weigh 1500lbs with  an easy 300hp. Out of rx1 motor with turbo or maybe one of the turbo triples. They just need a better intake and a tuner to get 300hp. There is a guy down by milwaukee. Thats getting 725hp out of the rx1.
But I have to stop coming up with house projects. Smart with a stock skidoo turbo sled motor 176hp. Did low 10s in the 1/4.

Fast By Me has a great rep in many forums.  What ive seen posted looks like great work.

Man o man did I nag Dan about finishing up that turbo.
Granted he's a fellow with a bunch of great projects going on and an equal amount of distractions from motorcycles that are running and just need riding. (Thanks again for that Rally lend way back when).
I don't know, maybe I'll have to pay him another visit this summer, eat lots of ice-cream and push that turbo project to the front of the line.

Yeah I just need to get my ass in gear. I'm being lazy in my old age. I just need to stop coming up with new ideas for projects

And Finnish atleast a couple of the really fun ones.

Well, you have all that time now from not having to shovel snow off your driveway.

Maybe we do an "Aussie style" shed weekend at Dan's - except we bring our tools and build a turbo bike!

Turbo lag - blown verse suck, is one better or worse?

I would hate to slap on a small turbo and have to live with a flat spot.....

Most people are going to tell you blow thru is better.

BUT, that is probably because most draw thru systems are based on carbs and older design turbos.

If you setup a more modern turbo with a just a throttle body in front of it and injectors in the manifold - I'd bet the difference would come down to turbo sizing and tuning.  But, then the issue is coming up with a carbon seal for the turbo to be used in vacuum situations ... or move the throttle body downstream and end up with a draw-thru "style" blow thru ...

I "think" I like both styles - but haven't ridden either yet!

We need a inexpensive, intuitive port fuel injection system with self tuning capabilities.

Creating that would be a quick way to make a lot of money!
