I really appreciate it Pat! I would definitely love to bookmark that cylinder then if it is option for those upgrades, I will hold off for now and keep my fingers crossed for now haha.

Thanks for pointing out the bore difference between the link the oem and the link I had posted! It seems they use the same/similar casts with the varying bores, and I had just linked the first one instead of the correct one.

Also thanks for putting a name to what upgrades I was talking about, I will for sure be taking a dive down that rabbit hole and putting things together!

Where in CO are you?

I may also have an original 16mm Master Cylinder in a box, in the Garage.
I'm in Denver area (Aurora)

I upgraded to R1 calipers and 14mm Master Cylinder quite some time ago.
I can look when I get home from work today to see if I still have my original.

Hey Johnny, I'm home, I checked, I only have clutch masters...no front brake masters.

Sorry amigo!

Johnny,
I just sent you a PM.

The forum no longer allows adding pictures to posts, and for some reason I'm no longer allowed to upload any to the gallery.
I can email you some pictures if you'd like.

You can still put pictures in but they have to be low resolution. I text my pictures to my second phone then save the texted version of the picture which makes a low resolution copy then you can add that picture.

I'm in the same boat as Alan trying to post pics.

I do have an FJ1100 master cylinder - has mount for mirror.  You will want to paint it and use the screws from your master cylinder.   Probably good to rebuild too - but it has been stored as a "sealed" system, so might still be ok?

PM an email and I'll send pics

The master cylinder I have is trash - someone used a drywall screw in one hole and a sheet metal screw in the other.  One hole was salvageable with a tap.  The other is wobbled out too big.   Not sure if an M5 tap will even be large enough.   :dash2:

Some people shouldn't be allowed to look at tools - much less pick them up and ruin things with them!   :ireful:

JohnnyTheCraneGuy

No worries, Chris!

I'm going to just go ahead and throw in another Chinese Cheap Part (lol) until I can get everything together for that overhaul. (would love too go radial for the master cylinder honestly) But that'll have to come after I've gotten the wiring back up too par.

In the meantime, thank you everyone for yalls support and readiness to get me back on the road. I definitely feel way more confident about diving into "restoring" her, or at least for now catching back up with this 27 yr old gal haha, knowing now that there is a very strong community behind this bike.

Hope yall have a good new years!

Figured I'd post an update here, I discovered a crack in the crankcase cover right where the rear brake lever is. Sure enough you set the bike level and oil starts to seep through, fml lol. I'll probably pull the cover, hit both sides with the dremel and a f ton of degreaser, then close her up with some welds.

Also just for clarity again, this case cover is cast aluminum yes?

Yes, cast aluminum. I would worry about heat deformation from welding.
I would try an inside application of JB Weld first.

Give Robert at RPM a call in the morning, maybe he has one he can send you.

Happy New Year!

Oh yeah I would definitely let it sit in an oven long enough, but if I can get away with the JB I might go that way, just wasnt sure if the oil would break it down over time. I will also be giving Rob a call!

Happy New Year!
