Hello everyone, just a quick question re my rebuild of my '84 1100. Both front and rear wheels have these little spacer flanges, which my '93 and '94 1200s do not have. My question is does the long spacer have to be pushed into this flange  so the spacer itself is just touching the inner race on both right and left bearings? I've enclosed pics of the front spacer, have already installed the rears and it seems right, but wanted to check anyway.  (Part #9 in the diagram).

And these long spacers between the bearings should not be rotating with the wheel as they should be riding on the inner bearing races? Only asking as on a spare 1100 rear wheel I have for reference the spacer tube was slightly mangled with spiral grooves ground into it, seems to have been caught inside on something.

Thanks for your help ????

You are correct, the spacer should fit snug against both inner races and under normal conditions should not rotate. It's important to fully seat the bearings against the spacer, failure to do so will put a side load on the inner races when the axle nuts are torqued down.

Thanks Pat, you have confirmed my thoughts. Will seat the spacers within the flanges, and install the bearings as normal,  :hi:

Its been a long build this 1100, will do a writeup in the next few weeks.

Which bearing should go in first on the front and rear wheel on a 1100 or it doesn't matter?
