Screen Suggestions - Shape, Size and where to get them

My screen is broken and cracked so I've looked around for whats out there and what I have found so far is standard, wind lip and extended with wind lip. I have an 88 3CV and I noticed the stock screen vibrates quite a bit and thought maybe a bigger screen would not be a good idea. 

To be honest I dont mind how the standard screen deflects wind, but I would like some feed back. I am 188cm (6 foot 2 inches in old measurements) if that helps

I run a eagle touring screen on my 3cv but I to am 6'2" and it fails to get enough air over the head to shut the Helmut noise up.... but does stop the buffeting of trucks...

i prefer riding with a low screen to get my helmet in clean air.

I'm running the eagle windlip on an '89.  I like it better than stock because it takes the wind off my neck. the wind now seems to hit at the center and top of my helmet.  not much buffeting at all. the screen stays put well--no noticeable vibration at speeds up to 90mph.  The only drawback is that it might catch the crosswinds a little more///more surface area---it's hard to say really, but it did seem that way when I first put it on. Not a deal breaker though.
I'm 5-10", stock bars, and a corbin gunfighter and lady seat (which is about 1" lower than stock.)

I agree with Frank. I'm 6'3" and I had a +4" windscreen on my '84 FJ only to have dirty air buffeting right above my helmet visor. If I were shorter, below 6' the buffeting would have cleared my helmet but alas....
I went back to the oem height windscreen and with a quiet helmet, neck scarf and good ear plugs, my ride is much more comfortable (and quiet) with my helmet in clean air.

thats right Pat.... trying to control the air over you always leads to some kind of issue....even if you did get the air over you it might have caused some kind of vortex that would suck your head forward constantly...

.I remember Jefman cut his windscreen down even lower than stock to get the air going the way he wanted.

So did I, and it made a world of difference (6'4"). I cut a curved section out of the Lockhart Speedscreen, basically stock profile, and the buffeting was eliminated. I used a stockpot lid to mark the curve and then cut it with a RotoTool bit in a Dremel, then sanded and polished the edge. Worked great.

i got an 86 1tx my screen was doing the same , the original craked and buzzed alot so before it totally died i looked at replacements, i was told 1 oem left in japan, bout 300 or so aus bucks so for 160 or so i got a screen from slipscreens australia.....( i gather your in yankee land?) but its dark tint and doesnt vibrate and is just as good as the oem part but doesnt have yamaha on it. keeps the wind about the same and im 1 cm taller than you. plus i think it makes my bike look nicer and meaner but thats just me.

Search ZG Outlet on ebay.  I got a 3" over (no lip) "second" for $50 US.  I'm 5'9" and really like it.  With the original windscreen, the air was directed up under my chin bar.  I ride an 89 that is identical to the one in your picture - right down to the color.  The Zero Gravity screen was a second because it had an optical imperfection in the middle of the screen.  Didn't matter to me because I don't look through the screen.  The only thing I didn't like about it was it wasn't blacked out at the bottom.  No problem, though.  I just masked it off and painted it on the back side with flat black spray paint.  Looks great, works great - and half price.    I bought a zero gravity screen for my '85 1100 from ZG Outlet via ebay back in January. I paid $79 US and that included shipping to Australia. Absolute bargain. Quality, while not on par with OEM, is still very good and fitted up without any modification at all. The screen I bought was not a second and arrived in great condition.
  If you don't want to spend too much money on a screen then I highly recommend the Zero Gravity product.   Regards, Peter.

I have a ZG also.  Scratches exceptionally easily compared to the LP that I had prior.

I also prefer clean air and I noticed that when I stood on my pegs and raised my helmet above the windscreen airflow my helmet stopped buffeting.  I cut my stock 3XW screen down about 1.5" with a saber saw.

For reference I'm about 5'9".
